“Great location, nice place.”
Reviewed 1 November 2015 for a stay in October 2015

We come to Cuenca without reservations and found this little gem. An apartment in a colonial building, walking distance to practically everything. It has a great roof top terrace, here we ate our breakfast, read, or just watched the market from above. The apartment lacks nothing, is clean and comfortable. It has a great selection of DVDs and good wifi. A place to come back to. Dano, the owner, is very accommodating, always reachable and just a great guy.

Liked best: Comfortable furnishings and roof top terrace.
Liked least: No view from windows, but the view from the terrace makes up for it.

“What you see is what you get, excellent place”
Reviewed 14 August 2015 for a stay in July 2015

The apartment is like the photos portray. It is two stories up by stairs. Even though there is a lot of activity outside, the apartment is nice and quite. The was a problem with the internet but once Dano was made aware of it, it was fixed promptly by him. Internet was excellent for streaming. The bed was very comfortable. The apartment was clean and has everything that you would need. Ask Dano anything and he was more than helpful. Would not hesitate to rent from Dano again.

Since my travel partner had made the rental arrangements for the apartment in Cuenca, I really didn't know what to expect. The first thing that impressed me was that the owner was going to pick us up at the airport and take us to the apartment. During the ride he informed us of some do's and don'ts, some places we may like to visit and where some things were located in association with the apartment. It was only about a 10 minute drive and when we arrived I alreadly loved the location by what I saw outside. The apartment was on the border of the Plaza de San Francisco market. Daniel, the owner has a very good relationship with the vendors outside the entrance so they helped keep an eye on those who were entering the complex which gave an added sense of security. The apartment was on the 3rd floor, a short 3 flights and the hallways had light sensors that came on when you passed, another plus.Once inside the apartment was more than nice, everything looked new and it was immaculate. Daniel gave us a tour, told us about the art pieces and where to go if we were interested in getting anything like them for souvenirs. He had written an extensive manual that included all the information that you could possibly need during your stay everything from church's, the market, restaurants, taxis, tours, etc. He had also gotten a beautiful tray of pastries and had it there for us which we tried immediately. There was a large street map on the wall that made it very easy to figure out where any place that we wanted to visit was in relation to our location, that was beyond helpful. Additionally he left us a cell phone to use during our stay which I really didn't expect. There also was a very nice roof top patio for our use. Who could want more. The kitchen had everything you could possibly need, definitely a home away from home (only better). We were able to find everything that we wanted to see and explore easily due to the manual and map.

After a week in Cuenca, we decided to take a day trip to Guayaquil and then go to the Galapagos Islands for four days. The day before we were to leave the island, my friend became critically ill and needed to be transported to the hospital in Guayaquil. I informed Daniel of the situation and the first thing he said was "what can I do?". I was still going to have to fly back to Cuenca and get the rest of our belongings and clean the apartment before the end of our stay. He knew that now I was a single woman in a country that I didn't know the language and was in the middle of a very difficult situation, he packed up our belongings and made the rather treacherous 3.5 hr drive to Guayaquil which was a big load off my shoulders yet way beyond the call of duty on his part and something very few people would do. He stayed with me for the rest of the evening which really helped for me to have someone to be and talk with and was willing to be available for me for the next few days until he had to return to his business. No one thinks something will go horribly wrong on their vacation and what Daniel did for me I will never be able to repay. So including the fact that this rental apartment for us was perfect, the person who owns it far out ways any other rental that you may think of choosing. Not only does he provide a very nice apartment located in the center of everything you could want to experience while in Cuenca, he will make sure that in any event, you will be well taken care of, something I don't believe other renters can guarantee. I will return to Cuenca one day as I found the country lovely and it's people warm and friendly. I will stay in one of Daniels rentals, and would not consider staying anywhere else.

“A perfect apartment in a perfect location in the heart of El Centro Cuenca!”

It is true that location can make or break your vacation and this one did not disappoint. Located just a block from Park Calderon, we got an authentic experience of Cuenca...from sitting in the park people watching, visiting the many cathedrals and museums, to watching fireworks and listening to music. It was great to walk out the front door and be in the middle of the mix of Cuencano life and yet have the privacy and quiet of the apartment. We were greeted each day and became friends with some of the folks who work in this plaza. Dano picked us up, brought us to the apartment, and gave us a tour of it and also told us about some of the important places we would want to know about. This really helped us feel more comfortable and ready to start our vacation in this wonderful city! Dano also kept us informed of events happening throughout the Cuenca during our stay. The apartment has anything you could need or want for your stay...from extra linens to laundry detergent and a fully stocked kitchen with spices. gadgets, and pots and pans. The bed is very comfortable, the shower hot, the apartment clean, and the decor tasteful! We really liked the big Cuenca map hanging on the wall which made it fun and easy to find street names, places of interest, and map out walks. We really loved our stay and would gladly rent from Dano again!
