Ate lunch here. Super food and service. Hotel and restaurant are Perched high on edge of volcano. Amazing views above the clouds of volcanic crater. Potato soup and fried pork dishes were very delicious.

Booking.com and others rate this hotel very well...however our experience left much to be desired. Apparently the day we arrived the hotel was completely booked up bc of carnival. Mind you, we booked our rooms a month ahead. Without any explanation, except for condescendingly commenting on the fact that we had reserved “only a standard room w/o crater view”, we were taken to a downstairs room that smelled of mold and even 3 room heaters couldn’t get rid of the smell. The back wall showed substantial water damage. The closet couldn’t even be used because of it. A fine film of dust coated the room. Everything looks dated, not just in our room but also in the restaurant. Granted, the location, architecture, beds and breakfast were nice...but I’d recommend it for a quick meal instead. I might come back for a coffee or so. Keep in mind that the area has its own microclimate, so it might be sunny and hot at Mitad del Mundo but cold and foggy/rainy up there. In the morning we had a spectacular view of the crater. In short, value for money is not good.

This hotel is so underrated and probably should be in one of the those "most beautiful hotels with a view" lists.

I went to Ecuador with some friends from New York to visit the Galapagos Islands as one of our 'bucket list' trips. When planning this trip, we decided to make a 6 day stop in Quito before our cruise to the islands, to visit the colonial downtown and Andean towns around the Cordillera. We made reservations at a 3 star hotel in Quito and some haciendas near Otavalo and Cotopaxi. The haciendas were dreamy, perfect for one night. But after one night in Quito's Mariscal hotel (think staying at the main strip in Las Vegas) we looked up for a new place and we came across this magnificent hotel-spa-restaurant up on the hill with the view of a real volcano crater (don't expect to see lava, it's filled with fog!).

The owners himself greeted us at our arrival and offered us some delicious plantain empanadas and a mix fruit smoothie. The service was warm and personalized and the food was exquisite. Cosy indeed!

We stayed there for there nights and used this amazing spot as out base point to visit the rainforest, Mindo, and Pichincha.

Best choice ever. I definitely recommend this place.

This hotel on the outside of Quito has incredible views over the only inhabited crater in the world. Worth a visit for the view and a few walks around the area. However the mist does come down and you may not always see the views. The rooms are OK but not the height of luxury. The restaurant is the same, food acceptable but not high class.

We stayed in downtown Quito but hired a driver to show us around. After a tour of the Equator Museum, the driver suggested lunch at this beautiful place.
Perched atop of caldera with magnificent views, we had a delicious meal. The shrimp cerviche was the best shrimp dish I’ve eaten... a true Ecuadorian style cerviche.
The others enjoyed their meals as well.
The views and location are spectacular with great service we relished a memorable lunch.
