I stayed just around the corner from here, and wasn't planning to go to a German restaurant while in Valpo, but it was the only place open on New Years, and it was such a pleasant surprise! While busy and a little (understandably) understaffed, it was sooooo good, and the staff (1 chef & 1 other) was working so hard. I had the pork chop and sauerkraut and it was soooo delicious. It was kind of fun trying another type of cuisine and seeing their take on it, which was perfect. I'm glad it worked out this way. I'm not a beer drinker (as they were out of most of everything from NYE the night before), but they brew 2 of their beers which were really good too!
