Contacted the company as we were to be in for a day off a cruise ship. Nyree, the owner, quickly got back to us. They take a maximum of 4 people in a Land Rover to Volunteer Point. The ride was over 2 hrs each way, and 1/2 the time over VERY bumpy terrain as you can see in my pictures. It was pretty uncomfortable so with anyone with neck/back/hip problems I would be cautious on booking. Our driver was Tony, Nyree's Dad, who has been taking guests to the property for quite a number of years. He is a very good driver with a good sense of humour. He was very informative and told us much of the history of the war in 1982.
There were about a dozen Land Rover vehicles at the site when we were there. Everyone was very excited to see the 3 different types of Penguins. There are roped off areas that you can't step into, but you'll see many Penguins out of those areas. They are not concerned at all about people walking around, but everyone was respectful and didn't get too close to them. This property is huge, and it was lovely walking to the beach area and watching a group of them go in the water together. The King penguins don't migrate, so are there all year long.
A lunch bag was included once we arrived. There are toilets out at the site, and also a bathroom stop around 1/2 way on the drive to Volunteer Point.
