“Pricy Japanese Izakaya ”

The place is located in 5 mins talk from Tanjong Pagar MRT (Green line).
We went to this izakaya for dinner. We ordered small green salad, mori sushi, omakase yakitori (7 kinds), chicken rever, beer and hot green tea.
Salad was covered by too much dressing, yakitori taste was average. I thought Mori sushi was for sharing 2 people but portion was for 1 person costs $34 which was pricy. We paid $103 (including tax and service charges).
Inside of the place is very Japanese style but since izakaya means reasonable (cheap) drinking place in Japanese, I’m sure you can go other better Japanese izakaya/restaurants for good food with same amount of money.

Globally the food was ok, the salad and chicken liver were tasty with the right quantity, the skewers not outstanding but still eatable. Only the sushi was a bit disappointing with very little variety, small quantity and expensive. Other than that, the staff is friendly but the area where the restaurant is located is a bit dead during the weekend.

The wasibuke ramen is not bad - worth adding the extra char siew. Some of th best slices of pork you will get to taste.

I've eaten here several times but the quality of food always keeps me coming back. The set lunch is good value for money and includes the salad bar (the potato salad is always a hot favourite and very yummy). The set lunch menu is fairly limited but the items are well curated to present their best offerings. The Cha Shu Don is one of the best you'll have anywhere with the Cha Shu perfectly done and oh so tender. This is also one of the rare places you can find Motsuni (beef offal stew), which I gather is a Japanese delicacy. It's quite an acquired taste I must say but shows how authentic this Japanese restaurant is at going beyond the usual sushi and sashimi that Singaporeans are accustomed to.
