Selected a room on the main floor off the courtyard. Room was clean & quiet with a nice bathroom. Hotel is located on a quiet street. Convenience store & bank across the street. One block to additional services & resturants. Breakfast buffet (included with room) opened early & provided all the Chinese & Western basics. Front desk staff were hit & miss thank goodness for Stanley!

Room tip: Select a room on the main floor off the courtyard.

Great location near the city center.
Its age shows - a thourough renovation is overdue! Rooms are very big, plenty of cupboard space. Bathrooms ok.
Reception rather helpless, hardly any English.
Breakfast disappointing - milk, sugar, coffee everything ran out and had to be refilled - which always took a minimum of 10 minutes. Rather annoying.
Dinner ok

The public spaces in this hotel are in terrible shape. The hallways smell as if they have not been cleaned in years. The staff are surly and overworked. The breakfast staff was overwhelmed and it was hard to find clean tableware. Not sure who is managing this hotel but Sheraton should be horrified to have their name on this property. That said the rooms are not that bad though hot water seems to be hard to find.

As we were walking out the front door on our first day of arriving, another group of tourists were arriving, and one person said out loud: WOW, how could a hotel look like this? We have to agree, this is probably one of the worst looking hotels we been to.

Most of the hotel amenities were not very functional. For example, toilet paper was recessed in the wall with aluminum half-flap cover at the front. The only problem was that there was no toilet paper roll holder inside. So, when one pull toilet paper out, the whole roll would fall out. We kept on putting the toilet paper on the counter and the cleaning staff kept on putting it back into the recess hole.
Shower: the bath tub does not butt against the wall, but leave a 2 inch gap, forming a trough that is lined with tiles. When one showers, the water would accumulate between the tub and the wall and slowly leak out from the bottom of the tub. We contacted maintenance staff and they suggested not to use the shower.
Breakfast: poor in quality despite wide selections. One morning hardly had any protein choices. You can also forget about a cup of coffee as guests were seen helping staff to get the two coffee machine working every day. Staff put coffee powder instead of beans into the grinder, so the coffee machine would scream clean-me with every fill up. They also don’t replenish cups and bowls. Light to emergency staircase were not turned on all the time, creating a potential hazard during emergency. There was also no electrical plug-in on night table.

Positive: Good TV with English channels, strong internet, better than most hotels in China, bed comfortable and heating system efficient. Within 10 minutes walk to Jokhang Temple.

I know one cannot expect the same service in Tibet than in other part of China, but most of the issues can be corrected with proper training.
