I only came on this occassion to bring my daughter who was taking part in a choral rehearsal and later performance of the Nairobi Hospice fundraiser. This is a great place depending on what function one is attending. Generally, evening events are great. However, coming here during the day especially for outdoor activities might be another thing, I would really not be thrilled. The grounds look quite dry in most places. There is litter all over the place near the main parking despite a good number of bins placed in many places. This could be mostly due to free ranging baboons all over the place that continually ransack litter bins. One can also see warthogs offering their help at keeping the lawns at the right height.

Overall, I would recommend that management does more about caring for the gardens. This would be a very beautiful place for picnics. It has the advantage of integrating at least the two wild species on the premises that seem to have been tamed. Visitors could also enjoy watching small planes overhead as they prepare to land at the Wilson airport.

An interesting spot to get insight into the history and tribes of Kenya through a look at their homesteads, dance and music, but not a top highlight of my trip to Kenya. Make sure that you time your visit with their daily shows so you can get the full experience and explore the music and dance performances. Besides the performance, I found the homesteads a bit redundant - but maybe it would have been better with a more engaging guide. Nonetheless, I did learn a lot at Bomas about the structure of typical family units in Kenya’s many tribes which was very helpful perspective to gain for the rest of my trip around Kenya. The performance was great and they welcome audience participation, which is fun. That said, it’s pretty long so make sure you know what you’re going into and plan your day accordingly.

I enjoyed walking around and seeing the differences between the various homesteads. Also saw a baby warthog there.

The auditorium for the show is huge, but there were only 100 or so people attending the day I went. The dancers and the music was good.
