For those that knew the old Alan Bobbe's Bistro, the new location at the end of Rhapta Road, Westlands in Andrews Apartments is fantastic. Located by the pool, with views of parkland, and sounds of a waterfall, the Bistro now feels even homely.
Entree's include home made pate, mushrooms made many ways, classic bisques, french onion soup, asparagus, vol au vonts, and so on.
Main courses include seafoods (lobster, prawns and fish cooked many styles, crabs), also a phenomenal seafood marmite, duck, chicken, beef, lamb, pork, brains, liver, quail, ostrich, all prepared in traditional French methods, served with potatoes (chips, mash, gratin) and vegetables.
Deserts include tarts, ice cream, creme brulee, pies, mousse and coffee's.
I had a crab bisque where you could taste crab, and brandy. Fresh baugette and good butter with a bottle of Beaujolis. My friends had French Onion soup that was made with a good stock, and mushrooms with Roquerfort Cheese - wonderfully fragrant.
For main Course I had a breast of duck - medium in a port sauce with gratinated potatoes, and my friends had fillets of Malindi Sole in a lemon butter sauce. It was faultless.
Food is excellent value for money, with attentive service.
