This was one of the great railway termini of the British Empire in the Far East, ranking alongside the main station in Kuala Lumpur and the old stations in Kowloon and Singapore. Though I haven't visited the Kuala Lumpur station for many years, it is (I suspect) in a rather better state of repair than "Yangon Central". I hope it one day receives the investment it badly needs for maintenance and renovation. The same observation probably applies to the entire rail network in this country. Most foreign visitors only need to know how to find Platform 7 for the circular rail trip (see separate review).
