I changed my mind today. O Poeta had a certain standard, in the past. I imagine today's pizza was cooked from frozen and lacking in tomato purrée and cheese. Salt and mixed herbs had been included as an after thought.
Although the room is air-conditioned, the waiting staff were content to have their own loud conversations, keeping the door open and so rendering the AC useless.
A man entered the restaurant and lit up a cigarette, the smoke of which soon spread around the room. He had no concern for the comfort of diners, nor did he order a meal or a drink. Although the staff didn't seem concerned, they did ask him to smoke outside when asked.
There are 2 O'Poetas in Kinshasa, coming from Gare Centrale, one just after the golf club and cemetery on the Boullevard 30 Juin - turn left and you'll come to it. The other is on the Bllvd 30 Juin just before Kintambo Magasin (The road changes it's name but it's the same road) entrance in the side street. They're both pretty similar. There is a comfortable and spacious outside area at both places. They both have a mock swimming pool outside with tables around, and they have an airconditioned very nice inside. They are both nicely screened from views of the outside, so you feel like you're not in Kinshasa.
I've been several times - but at those prices it can't be very often! On this occasion the prices were even higher - with a bottle of wine between $50 and $360!
