The war was a brutal 8 year ordeal that was sparked by Saddam's invasion of southern Iran, backed by most western nations. This was the biggest land conflict since WW2. This museum is beautifully done, gives you an idea of how the Iranian 'us against the world' mentality came about and is also just generally interesting. Would highly recommend to any visitor to Iran, even if you're not a fan of war stuff! (My wife isn't, but she enjoyed this visit a lot!)

fascinating look into the war between Iran and Iraq, a defining element of much of modern Iran and its mistrust of the west.

Presently surprised with the museum. While the museum tells the stories of bravery, suffering and attributions of the Iranian people in their defence against the external aggressor, Saddam Hussein which is basically and fundamentally true, it also displays the Iranian creativity in exhibiting a beautiful environment for the enjoyment of its people and tourists alike. The Garden and the pool were gorgeous and very beautiful. It rockets displays also highlight the Iranians' determination to defend itself against even the strongest power in the world.
In sum, a good place to spend a morning there.

Really interesting place. It contains a lot of real things related to holy defense and a lot of military equipment. I believe it is a best museum in Tehran.

Fantastic museum. My favourite military museums previously were in Moscow, but this one is newer and therefore uses great modern technology to illustrate everything. Super explanations of the war and the way the West wrongly reported it.
