It's quite a climb if you go from the ampitheatre but it's a brilliant view from the top and there's also an interesting museum at the top.

The location is well preserved with two small museums located on either wing. Bring a hat and sunscreen. Close to other attractions and family friendly.

Wonderful place, full of history.
Highly recommended to visit it with a guide, able to explain you in details the single phases of the venue and the story behind it.
You will walk through the history of a fantastic city.

The Citadel is truly a mesmerizing place. Each ruin seems to tell its own story; each building is both discrete and a reflection of the others. It is a place with an evidently storied history, hosting empire after empire. Though the information labels are more than sufficient, one would benefit from hiring a guide to help them explore and dissect the secrets of this historic location. Not to be missed are the Temple of Hercules and the Throne Room area, though the Museum should be cut if one is pressed for time.

It's a very steep climb, I recommend a taxi up and walking back. There are plenty of interpretative boards explaining the ruins. One of the highlights for me was the museum with a clear timeline of the various civilisations to occupy the site. Don't miss what is clamed to be the oldest dipictation of the human form dated at 5,000 BC.
