“Relaxed stay on Ionian Coast”
Reviewed 29 July 2013 for a stay in July 2012

The property has clearly been lovingly developed from an old site into a very lovely holiday home. The entrance is up steps through a solid door into a walled patio. The first feeling is of entering an older home and a traditional living environment. The Turkish style is very pleasing and the lay-out of the rooms, patios and small pool are very comfortable. We stayed in a group of five and enjoyed the stay very much. We had no car and were able to move around comfortably by bus or on foot to Ephesus, Sirince and the beaches, although a car would have made the stay a different experience in terms of day trips inland and along the coast.

Alison Morel makes every effort to ensure that you are happy and seems to manage a number of lovely properties. I would certainly rent one of them again. She has a local travel agency and can make other arrangements - such as the airport pick-up which is really the only way to get there without a car. The train service is inconvenient, infrequent and not completely reliable unless coming from central Izmir.

The area is quiet but full of history. Within 30 minutes, there is one of the oldest mosques in Western Turkey, the site of a huge Byzantine church, a former Greek temple, a Byzantine castle, Ephesus, the formerly Greek town of Sirince...one does not lack for things to do. The beaches at Pamucak are also quiet and lovely. Food is generally good but it has traditionally been a place that people pass through so there is no high-end dining. That said, the quality of local produce is excellent and we had some of the best home-cooked barbeque and stone oven meals we have made. Were I to return, I would rent a car to be able to see more of the hinterland, go up the coast and see the impressive ruins at Priene (magnificent), Miletus and other sites.

The price is what it is - were one in Bodrum or a more well-known destination, it would not be at all unreasonable. Given the quality of the property, particularly compared to other local options, it seems churlish to say that it could be more modestly priced by virtue of being in Selcuk. I would say that those who stay here would be happy to return!

One of our memorable holidays!

“Serene and luxurious Stay”
Reviewed 23 July 2013 for a stay in July 2013

We traveled from Istanbul with our Canadian family in July to Selcuk in order to see the ancient city of Ephesus. We are a family of five (three small boys aged 9,6 and 4) and our guests were my husband's sister and boyfriend. We were looking for a vacation rental that let us be together but have our privacy as well. We found the perfect place with Alison. Alison herself, is very friendly and courteous. She arranged for a rental car with a driver to pick us up from the airport. She was at the house when we arrived and explained everything even though she had a detailed information package. She also came when we left to make sure all went well. Wonderful lady full of smiles. Her rental house is beyond beautiful. There are 4 bedrooms ( one is a sofa bed but my eldest son slept there and couldn't have been any happier.) The master bedroom in the big house is jaw dropping exquisite. My smaller boys slept in the room with two double beds and my sister-in-law slept in the kitchen house master bedroom. There is air conditioning throughout the two houses so everyone was comfortable, even the Canadian family who aren't use to the high temperatures. The kitchen was well stocked. We shopped at the Wednesday market and therefore made our own supper each night. There was plenty of space around the large dining room table for the 7 of us. The luxuries of the apartment were outstanding. The dip pool was wonderful for a cool down after touring around in the hot sun each day. We used the sauna only once because the children wanted to try it, but in July it was hot enough outside! Everyone loved the rain shower heads in the showers and the fluffy towels and robes left for our use. Staying at this house is the epitome of serene outdoor living. There are so many places to sit outside and read a book or enjoy olives, cheese and a glass of wine after supper. The wifi is strong (doesn't reach the kitchen too well though) enough to be on your devices on the rooftop terrace if you need to 'update' how wonderful the apartment is! All in all this was one of the best rental apartments I have ever stayed in and I will definitely be coming back to this house whenever we have more out of town guests who want a side trip to Ephesus. Fantastic home and host.

“Perfect place to stay in Selcuk”

This house was absolutely perfect. There were 4 of us in the 2 "houses" and it would have been easy and comfortable to add 2 or 4 more. Beautiful with wonderful terraces to enjoy the views of the whole town. Walking distance to the friendly little town. Wonderful restaurants. Alison found a perfect guide for us to enjoy 3 days of exploring the archeological sites. The only problem is I would have enjoyed a day or two more to just enjoy the house. If at all possible arrive so you can go to the Sat. market to stock up the kitchen at least for breakfasts and maybe a BBQ or two.
