Delicious kayak available all day! Visited in the middle of the afternoon. Very interesting area, a little different from most of Istanbul.

All Turkish guys running this place with a tribute to Mr Boris, their old master who left this place to them. Brother Selahattin and his family members are building on tradition. Sour cream and sesame paste are their best menu items. Others are moderate. We went there after prayers. Best time to visit in the morning. Prices are a bit high for locals but value for money place for real foodies. Go there and enjoy the tradition. I guess the only original left after Pando's place in Besiktas. Hence do miss the place in the heart of Kumkapi.

We sought this place out after falling in love with Kaymak (a Turkish version of clotted cream made with buffalo milk, served covered in honey with crusty white break) on a Culinary Backstreets tour. Fantastic little local spot, the gentleman serving spoke pretty much no English and we can't speak any Turkish - but we managed to have a table set out outside especially for us (the only other outdoor table was taken and it was too hot to want to be inside, although others were seated there) and to order Kaymak and Turkish coffee - which was delivered from a little coffee shop down the road after he bellowed out our order. Absolutely delicious, cheap and very enjoyable - they were clearly very happy to have us there. Highly recommend!! It was also possible to order eggs, olives, etc, although we didn't try these.
