This was not on my itinerary and I had no prior knowledge of this place. I was taken there by my good friend Ali from Les Arts Turc in March 2015.

I enjoyed his enthusiasm and the obvious love for his city that he is keen to share with his guests.

The palace is in a beautiful setting and with Ali's connections I was able to take the wooden lift to the top of the tower and get a wonderful view of Istanbul and the Kasri surroundings.

A wonderful meal in the restaurant gives a nice experience of Ottoman style cuisine at a not unreasonable price.

Good company in great surroundings, what could be better!

I went only because the NY Times included this as a must-see in theri 36 hours in Istanbul. The place is far from the main part of town, situated on a nice residential hill tip section in the north of the city. I took a bus from Kadikoy around 10 a.m. and the trip lasted more than 45 minutes, followed by a long trek up the hill. (Luckily, a nice Turkish man offered to give me a ride on his motorcycle.) But what a disappointment. There was no landscaping to speak of, no flowers, no water in the fountain, and the part of the ground was being turned upside down as they were constructing some sort of a path. The exterior of the small building was not maintained, with peeling paint and chipped and uncleaned stones. The building has been converted into a restaurant with five different sections. There are no art objects in view. On the other hand, the big windows with long drapes overlooking the garden (if you can call it one) or the valley are nice. One section of the restaurant was serving breakfast. With the sun coming in through the tall windows, the high ceilings, it offered a relaxing venue to have brunch. Although the only waiter was friendly and showed me a table by the window, he disappeared, I sat for 10 minutes, soaking in the nice sun and surroundings, then left. All in all, not a bad place to have a meal in. But I would not trek all the way up just for that. The Huntington Garden afternoon tea in Pasadena offers better value.

It is one of best view of Istanbul. Historicl place surrounded by many trees. I especially like the linden trees. We sat at the coffee shop. The service was very fast. The proce are reasonable. You need a car to go there.
It is nice to walk around, so will like the nature and the flower setting. It has a small playground for young children.
Enjoy
