Owner description: This three-towered fortress was built in 1452 on the Bosphorus to protect the narrow waterway from advancing ships.

Rumeli fortress is on the Istanbul museum pass. A little bit out of the way (compared to most of the other attractions). However, the Rumeli fortress has an enviable position on the waters edge and offers stunning views up and down the coast. A thoroughly worthwhile visit indeed.

If you are feeling brave, a walk to Rumeli along the waterfront is a must. However, it might take about an hour and 30 minutes or so. Saying that, lots of places for coffees and ice cream along the way and a truly inspiring walk along the water side.

A regular bus will take you back to town. However, the walk (at least one way) is well worth it. Enjoy this attraction for the views and get in free with your pass.

A fantastic castle in Istanbul, steeped in history. The views, from all perspectives, are simply amazing. This is an excellent place to visit with family and friends. We will return.

The kedi here were plentiful, beautiful, and, above all, incredibly friendly and cuddly. Also, baby kedi. The fortress was nice too.

What makes this place special is the amazing location , and the history behind the fortress .
The fortress was built in 3-4 months only !!! By Muhammed Al Fateh , he even shared his soldiers building the fortress to share them up .
The fortess is large and huge , very nicely built .
The view is very nice .
Some points in the fortress might not be friendly to acrophobic people

Great view over the Bosphorus! You can visit 2 of the towers. Be prepared with comfy shoes. The price is 10 turkish lira. The area around is very nice. It does take a long time to visit.
