After 18 years of travelling to Istanbul for business and pleasure, and having stayed in numerous hotels at several levels, I have settled on the Intercontinental as my mainstay. The following are the reasons why;
Location - a short walk to Taksim square and bustling and fascinating old town Beyoglu. One minutes walk to the Metro for downtown and beyond. 2 minutes cab to up-market Nisantisi. 5 minutes cab to the ferries of Besiktas and Kabatas and therefore 20 minutes to the Asian side rather than battling the traffic to cross the first bridge. Easy access to the Old City and historic sites of Topkapi, Blue and Hagia Sofia mosques, Gran Bazaar etc.
The team - best concierge I've found in Istanbul to navigate the constantly changing city, and best service of a front of house team who'll happily sort out anything for you.
Value - I almost always get a better deal than the other 5* hotels in town.
