We dined at the location near the National History Museum. One of the main dishes we ordered never arrived, the lamb I ordered was tough as leather and overall the dining experience was very poor. The waiter was too busy playing on his phone and ignored us. Not good by any standards.

My friend and I ate at their pop-up set-up at the Brussels Holiday Market, where there was a "Mongolia Village" of shops from Mongolia, including Modern Nomads. This review is not for the restaurant itself, but for its pop-up restaurant.

We had a pretty bad experience. We were seated very quickly and the waitress was already very impatient with is. We started with two milk teas. Not sure if Mongolian milk tea normally tastes like this, but it was tasteless and there was meat and rice on the bottom, which were not disclosed on the menu or by the waitress. It was actually a bit gross and bland. We also had the noodle soup and since we both were not too hungry, we ordered this to share. When we asked the waitress if we could have extra bowls, she was annoyed by this and told us she could only give one bowl—seriously? It wasn't a big deal and I know it would be a pain to wash since they had limited water access, but her attitude was just not welcoming. The noodle soup was nothing to write home about itself. The food just wasn't impressive and was pricey, given that it was a pop-up restaurant in the middle of the Christmas Market.

Granted we both had never had Mongolian cuisine prior to this, so we really can't compare this to any other Mongolian dining experience, but the food and service were so bad that it left a bad taste (literally) and impression on our views on Mongolian food.
