“Interesting Building”

Independence Square and Kazak Eli Monument
Ranked #12 of 114 things to do in Astana
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 24 May 2017

The Palace of Independence is a building just opposite the Palace of Peace and Reconciliation. Opened in 2008, it was the idea of the President and its modern style is another example of the contemporary and sometimes futuristic aesthetic of architecture in Astana. It has a whole array of functions, with many political and international conferences being held here.

The most interesting part is the model of Astana, which is a good way of seeing the city when it is too cold to visit on foot. An art gallery is occasionally open, too – depending on what meetings are being held.

Located on the east side of the city, this attractions is located close to the pyramid ( in front of it) , the mosque ( on the north side) and the National Museum ( on the south side).

Not really worth visiting. Nothing special, just a building. they use it mostly for conferences, the interior of the building is uninspiring.

This is a vast open area on a monumental, not human, scale that should be visited if you go to Astana. Several important structures are situated in and around this area, including the National Museum, the National University of Arts, the monument to President Nazarbayev, and the new mosque.
