Raffles Le Royal sits in the middle of Phnom Penh, a privileged area now surrounded by towering skyscrapers that dwarf the low-rise hotel. Yet her palm and frangipani tree-fringed setting in the heart of town remains the envy of many – it takes three minutes to walk to both the riverside; the financial district is just one tuk-tuk trip away and other attractions just five to 10 minutes by taxi.
Don’t expect a bargain – you’re paying for a piece of Cambodia's colonial history.

My wife and I spent 2 great nights at the Le Royal about 12 years ago and decided to come back again recently with our 8 and 11 year-old children. Who says you can't go home again?

We pulled up in front of the beautiful, incredibly well-maintained hotel and immediately were met by the super-friendly staff who offered us cold drinks and fresh towels. In particular, Mr. Bunla Thai, the Assistant Front Office Manager, went out of his way to make us feel at home in his hotel (more on him later).

The rooms were well-sized, very nicely appointed, and very reasonably priced for a hotel of this sort. Our family loved the pools and generally exploring the grounds. We were impressed that each time we went to and from the hotel we were met by multiple hotel employees that knew our names and genuinely cared about how we were enjoying their hotel and city. The concierge desk was very helpful and my children loved the doormen, who let them call the tuk-tuks for us.

But one of the things that really stood out was Mr. Bunla's helping us when I had an issue with my ATM card. He arranged a ride for us to the bank headquarters and personally escorted us there, where we were helped by his personal friend who made an otherwise bad experience OK. I still marvel at the kindness and over-the-top way he treated us - bravo Mr. Bunla - you have made us Le Royal guests for life whenever we come to Phnom Penh!

I had the pleasure of having a very short stay at this hotel when I was recently in Phnom Penh for a one day business trip. Arriving late (midnight) with a small group of colleagues we lobbed into the Elephant Bar, a really stunning bar ! They staff were only too happy to offer to prepare us some meal and serve drinks and we ended up relaxing and enjoying this atmosphere for a couple of hours.

This hotel has a beautiful old world charm. The tiled hallways. The stunning pool. The beautiful breakfast room. And if that is not enough, the service is just a delight.

A very highly recommended hotel and I will be back.

In general every thing is great about the hotel from the room to the services to the restaurant.

Check in was personalized as they bring the forms for you to sign and the nice settings certainly set you in for a comfortable stay. Upon entering the room , the warmth settings certainly comfort one and personally I am happy to see the ceiling fan as it does not need to have air conditioning on throughout the day. The only disappointment I had with the room is the very soft pillow which is not to my liking. Overall the room certainly gave me a very comfortable feel which I look forward to returning back every evening. One slight hiccup during my stay was that after checking in for almost whole day, the bell boy came by in the evening to deliver luggage which don't belong to me.

Breakfast is above average but what makes it great is the attentive services but is a little walk from the room. However the snack foods at the lobby lounge and bar is great.

Overall everything is great at this hotel in terms of design, settings , ambience and most importantly services of the staff which makes the stay memorable.
