We used a tour agency (VN Bike Tour) to organize the trip for a family of 8 persons this afternoon. It is quite a distance though but it is a place to visit if you are visiting Ho Chi Minh. It gives a very good insight on the 20 year Vietnam war and how the guerillas adapted themselves to jungle warfare. Our guide, Tai, was very pleasant and provided us very good information on the history and uniqueness of Cu Chi Tunnels, how the soldiers lived in the various types of structures - workshop, hospital and kitchen. Part of the kitchen visit was to sample "tapoica" and local tea. There was even a firing range with various types of guns, with each bullet costing 60,000 VND (about USD2.5) and a minimum of 10 bullets per session.
It was an enjoyable visit and a must see indeed.
