Our family of 7 stayed four nights at the Lanna Hill House last week. Our visit was exceptional! The house itself is immaculate and perfectly maintained. The home and decor is nostalgic and charming Thai and we felt like royalty staying in this magnificent home. The staff was so kind and helpful. From a delicious and enormous breakfast spread each morning, laundry service and a crystal clear pool with towels and loungers, to waiting up for us to return and closing up the house each night, we felt truly pampered.
Our last night at the house was my 40th birthday. We had a cooking class and dinner at the house. The food was delicious and we loved the opportunity to help cook (our request). Oppy and the staff went above and beyond any expectations and made me a delicious made-from-scratch mango cake and ice cream. They set up lanterns and candles in the garden and served cake and ice cream outdoors at twilight. Afterwards they had another surprise and prepared two huge floating lanterns and we lit them and let them go together. It was a truly magical birthday experience! Thank you Oppy!!
We would stay at Lanna Hill House again in a heartbeat!!
It's a fair challenge finding a suitable spot for vacation when you have 3 kids under the age of 4 ! Lanna Hill House turned out to be an answered prayer, we loved every minute of our time there.
One of my favourite spaces in the house is the second floor veranda overlooking the mountain ranges, lake and forests beyond. It's where I'd start my day, before the children would barge through the door and break the treasured silence. It's great for reflection, reading, or just being in the cool of the morning. At night, it's also a great hangout with the wife.
The beautiful colonial architecture complete with generous outdoor spaces aside, what I appreciated about the house was it's location - nestled among local villages and dairy farms. A daily routine before breakfast would be a scooter ride out with our boys to the nearby farms, where we've struck up a few friendships. It's such a welcome change for city folks to observe and help with that which is needed for subsistence.
Other than nearby villages and tracks, the House is also very close to a hot spring park. It's such a pleasant walk, with souvenirs to pick up, massages to be had, and feet to be soaked. The nearby mountain ranges also offer more activities and dining options. We'd be trail walking as a morning activity, passing by waterfalls and pools before getting dropped off at a local restaurant for a yummy lunch. Recently I've seen photos of a newly open elephant park, just to add to the draw.
The House itself is a great stay. Breakfasts always a great spread of all things continental, and dinners a sumptuous menu of Lanna cuisine - which we've all grown to love (we do wish dinner costs just a little less ! :p). The family room comes with state of the art AV system for when we needed a cartoony baby sitter ! The lawns and big outdoor spaces leaves plenty of room for us to roam and explore. The pool would be a regular hangout in the late afternoons.
Every staff at the House is a pleasure to engage with. Helpful with a smile that is uniquely and beautifully Thai. We can't wait to be back !
Lanna Hill House is that house in the north of Thailand that you have been dreaming of: the house itself is suburb, the surrounding area is idyllic and the staff is beyond perfect. In short: Lanna Hill House is a unique opportunity to enjoy the true Thailand within a luxurious setting.
We spent a week in Lanna Hill House and during this week there has been literally nothing that couldn't be arranged or that couldn't be done. We have fantastic dinners, a private yoga class was organized just as we wished for and all our questions and demands were addressed to most kindly and perfectly by the management of Lanna Hill House.
Another example of the great hospitality of Lanna Hill House: after my friend and I discussed our love for real Thai curry's, we were presented three types of different curry's from the Thai market for us to take home. Unfortunately we forgot the curry's from the fridge....but Lanna Hill House arranged for a air post delivery of the curry's all the way from Thailand to the Netherlands. We are still enjoying real Thai dishes with these tasty curry's!
Can't wait to get back.

Our Stay at the Lannah Hill house was a great experience and a really unique opportunity to spend time in a beautiful area with all the modern amenities.
The staff at the Villa were always available and extremely kind, not to mention the delicious food that was prepared on a daily basis! The house boasted scenic views and gave you a feeling of a truly peaceful vacation. The Manager Oppy was just great and was available at all times to help in anything we asked.
I would highly recommend the Lanna Hill House and look forward to my next time there!
We spent five really enjoyable nights at the Lanna Hill House. My husband and friend played golf during the stay. I was just taking it easy - walking around the reservoir with one of the friendly house dogs & reading. It was certainly the highlight of our 3 weeks trip in Asia.
- Location - next to Highland golf course & the reservoir. It's far a way from town but that's what we wanted, very tranquil. Do need a car to travel around.
- Lovely big house - with imposing grand staircase and nicely furnished. It's well equipped to accommodate families with children even the little ones. Favourite spot of the house was the upstairs veranda with lovely views of the layers of hills and water from the reservoir. It's also where we had drinkies. A large lounge and sun room with a table tennis.
- TV - with over 200 channels to select including CNN, BBC & sport channels. Internet speed was very acceptable given so far out of town.
- Bathroom - was a bit dated & the toilet flushed a little loud, however, the house had so many good features which outweighed the dated bathroom.
- Property manager and staff - were very nice and obliging, typical Thai very warm and friendly. The place was so well organised and well run. Credits to Khun Oppy!
- The management had a very good system to support local staff. The profits from dinners and bars would go to staff. Wine and beers were reasonably priced with very low markup. It was purely for guests convenience and extra income for staff.
- Food - we had dinner at home every night. One night we invited four other friends to join us for dinner and the food was delicious. We all enjoyed it very much even our Thai friend said it was really good food. The dinner service was professional and as good as decent restaurants in Bangkok.
My husband was so impressed with the house & staff and this is what he wrote to the property owner "we want to congratulate and thank you on having such a beautiful house at Lanna Hill and for giving us the opportunity to stay there. The staff were without exception excellent for which I guess credit should go to the standout, Oppy. How she manages to get such a good team out in the countryside is amazing.
Khun On (?), the evening chef never failed to impress with her meals. We were so happy that we stayed at Lanna Hill instead of in the city of Chiang Mai and Oppy’s farewell gesture on the last evening with the hot air balloon/lantern will stay with us forever. The annual festival with hundreds of the lanterns must be incredible."
