Like many others, we found this restaurant through Mark Weins enthusiastic review. It's moved from it's original location. It's tucked away a bit - but it's a pleasant 25 minute walk from Sanam Pao BTS station guided by google maps. There weren't many customers there on a Wednesday lunchtime but the staff are pleasant and helpful, and all the food was really good - including the soft shell crab curry. The bill was reasonable, and they couldn't have been nicer - even ordering a grab taxi with a pre-agreed price to take us to our next destination. Definitely worth the effort.

this restaurant is one of my favourite restaurants, everything on the menu is just fantastic and you really can't go wrong with anything that you order, but you must order the shoft shell crab curry no matter what

Food and travel blogger Mark Weins recommends this as one of the most authentic and best Thai restaurants in Bangkok. Based on that recommendation we went there for lunch. I can happily confirm that his recommendation is 100% accurate, and that my lunch at Soei was probably the best meal I’ve had while overseas. Started with the crispy fried mackerel heads and garlic, and then had crab fried rice and a whole sea bass topped with chunky cut red curry spices for the main. Nothing is short on flavour, and my mouth was zinging for 30 minutes after we left. Their menu is large and as a result difficult to decide on what to order, however, the staff are lovely and very patient. Soei is not the cheapest of restaurants, expect to pay around 1,200 THB for a meal for 2 including beers, but it is certainly worth it. I only wish I had time to visit a few more times before leaving Bangkok. Exceptional!!

If u love Thai food, and you will be visiting Bangkok, then you must make time to try this restaurant! It is recommended by Andrew Zimmern, host and producer of the travel channel series Bizarre Food!
Dishes ordered and recommending as follow, yellow curry soft shell crab and steamed river prawn salad with basil. You will be amazed by the authentic taste and the cheap price! Restaurant is not located on the Main Street, but u will see a poster of Andrew Zimmern and he owner at the front of the shop!

We had our lunch at the Soei Restaurant as it comes highly recommended by #Mark Weins #migrationology # YouTube # travel videos. Complete was of time and money. The food was very average nothing special. I have had better thai meals in my room service menu. We ordered spicy fry fish and beef and macrael salad with shrimp fried rice. The taste wasn't great. The food is overpriced each main dish costs about 120 to 150 baht compared to 60 to 100 baht elsewhere. Lesson learned don't get carried away by watching travel videos.
