BU Place Hotel is located in Din Daeng district in central Bangkok. When you walk on the street here you will mostly meet just Thai people, and one gets a real sense of living in the genuine Bangkok. The street has many small shops, street food sellers and open eateries. With the exception of the restaurant located in the hotel's street level, there is some distance to restaurants with Western style.
The hotel staff was very friendly and service-minded. A little unusual was, however, that even though we paid for the room on arrival, we had to pay a deposit of 1100.- THB, according to what I perceived as a guarantee for damages to the room. There was no mini-bar, so there was nothing to demand for.
The room was large, clean and fine furnished. However, it was sparsely equipped, without the possibility to make coffee, tea etc. Two bottles of water was what we got. The bed was, as usual in Thailand, quite firm, but that is a habit. The bathroom was spacious, with good water pressure in the shower. However, it was quite difficult to regulate the water temperature. The room had a small balcony with a nice view towards Sukhumvit.
We did not try the swimming pool but it looked nice and inviting.
The hotel does not have its own kitchen and dining place, but one can get a great breakfast buffet at the adjoining restaurant for 220 THB per person.
