I visited the eco-village over a weekend whilst backpacking solo through Nepal. Short and sweet but best decision ever! Worth the buck and time. A rejuvenating break along one's travel. This little gem is hardly far from busy Pokhora yet hidden away in quiet Astam. Bestowed with unsurpassed views of the Annapurna mountain range I danced with serinity through out the time.
Family owned and established over generations, I felt comfortably at home with the family and surrounding as I was treated with best hospitality, served heart-warming food made fresh from the perm-culture garden- highly innovative and sustainable living. I was in awe at how it is well established, beautifully so, and I encountered cattle mowing the land and cows milked daily although I missed that- I'm a city boy and it's not everyday I see such.
Morning yoga sessions and reiki consultation (amongst many activities on offer) kept me balanced although a 3hr30 long walk through the greater village on the rolling mountainous hills, meeting and sharing tea break with local folks, gave me life.
I was taken aback and charmed by the homesteads that housed every family- living cultural preserves full of character beckoning of old times yet fully functional, standing test of time whilst in synergy with surrounding nature.
The Annapurna Eco-Village is truly enchanting place you won't want to leave. I'm left yearning for more till my return someday soon.More
