We stayed here as part of a tour we had organised from the UK. The hotel was perfect for us. The staff were so friendly and couldn't do enough for us, the location close to everything but peaceful, breakfast offered a great variety and the garden and roof top terrace perfect for relaxing after a chaotic day in Kathmandu

Stayed at this hotel as it was part of the package tour. Very good location where all the tourists come. Plenty of restaurants of coffee shops around. The hotel is bit old and can do with some refurbishment. The room is spacious and equipped with kitchen, the room was located near the main street so can be bit noisy. However the staff have all been friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet is simple mostly asian /indian style. A budget place to stay for a day or two.

Stayed two nights and can honestly say that there are better choices for the money. The hotel was nothing like the pictures on the internet; but then, none of them are. Initial reception was efficient, but “cold.” However, the manager and rest of the staff were nice during our stay.

PROS:
Breakfast more than adequate. Good omelets.

Nice outdoor patio and sitting area.

Not too noisy.

Location is OK, but not the best in Thamel.

CONS:
Rooms old, small, dark and dank with absolutely no room for your luggage. Would be better with a single or full-size bed, not the two singles we had.

Lots of mold and grime in the bath (common with old buildings).

No in room safe.

Internet was “spotty.” Signal kept dropping and had to continually re-log on (might not be a provider problem, not the hotel’s).

No elevator so it's quite a haul if you are on the 6th floor.

We stayed at Hotel Buddha, Thamel for 5 nights (before and after our EBC Trek). The service by the staff was impeccable, right from reception, housekeeping to the F&B service staff. The hotel and rooms were clean and daily housekeeping was available. The breakfast served at the garden restaurant had varied choice - eggs made to order, pancakes, muesli, sausages, cupcakes, etc, was very filling. A special mention to the owner - Mr. Kiran who went out of his way to invite us to dinner with his family, one evening. It was very generous of him and highly appreciated, we felt at home.

We did eat at the restaurant and found the food delicious, do try the chicken momos, bruschetta and chicken escalope. The soups were delicious too. They also have a beautiful dining space on the terrace with great Thamel views.

Shiva and Prakash, the managers of the property were also very courteous and gave us some great tips for Nepal.

What makes this hotel stand out is - the cleanliness, the customer service and the personal attention provided by the owners and management. Thank you Kiran and team, I will visit again one day.

Room tip: Get the rooms on the higher floor, to avoid any street noise.
