I was on a business trip and booked a deluxe room for 2 nights. the property is located in a neat and clean neighbourhood which is somewhat of rarity in Kathmandu nowadays.
The deluxe room is very spacious, has good lighting arrangement and sturdy mattresses, internet is quite good ,so good facilities for both work and relaxation.Standard chartered bank and ATM is right across the road, so convenient for International card users to withdraw cash. Food items are reasonable priced and there are four different restaurants offering all kinds of cuisines. Some points for improvement -Internet is slow in public areas , laundry has to be handed over before 8 am for same day delivery

Room Tip: I stayed on 3rd floor , rooms on 5th/6th floor would have a much better view of the adjoining area

Dear Guest, thank you for sharing your positive experience with the Trip adv community.
The Ambassador is a four-star hotel at the heart of Kathmandu. Located in one the most vibrant areas of Kathmandu (Lazimpat), it is an ideal choice for guests who want to experience everything great that the city has to offer, without having to venture too far. Within walking distance of the buzzing alleys of Thamel and the upmarket shopping boulevard, otherwise known as Durbar Marg, the hotel is a private and quiet recluse for guests who want to be at the centre of Kathmandu while avoiding the trappings of a rapidly growing city.
We look forward to welcoming you back soon.
With warm personal regards,

The newly rebuilt Ambassador Hotel is close to the Palace, Thamel, The Garden of Dreams and central Kathmandu. Though on a busy road, the tripple glazing means the rooms are very quiet and the air is good. The rooms are a good size, attractive and very comfortable with great beds and all the modern conveniences like desks, wifi, luggage racks, and modern en suite bathrooms with shower. Laundry service is good and cheap. The buffet breakfasts are very good indeed, offering both continental and Asian options, and we found plenty to eat although we are gluten and dairy free. The restaurant food at other times of day is also good. The staff speak good English, and are very helpful and friendly, so the hotel has a very pleasant atmosphere. We would definitely recommend it.

Room Tip: The view is better from the higher floors

My husband and I had a pleasant stay for 6 nights altogether at the newly rebuilt Ambassador Hotel, with its modern facilities and courteous staff which provide a great deal of comfort and relative quiet right in the middle of the hustle and bustle of busy Lazimpat area of Kathmandu. I appreciate the attention to details in the design and operation of the hotel. Features worth noting include the spacious bedroom and bathroom such that two occupants do not get into each other’s way; two folding luggage racks so that one of our two suitcases didn’t have to be placed on the floor; the double glazing of windows that effectively shut out the street noise; a long working table that would come in useful if I were on a business trip; and energy saving sensor lights at the lift landing and along the corridors. The security feature of the lifts that require use of room card is appreciated, albeit it causes a bit of inconvenience to access a different floor where friends’ rooms are located. Perhaps one small equipment that would be appreciated by guests who walk the dusty streets is a shoe shine machine placed in the lobby for a quick polish before stepping into their rooms.

The hotel is located within walking distance to Thamel, and is barely 100 m to my favourite shopping venue at the Folk Nepal Fair Trade store. Given our busy social schedules we only had buffet breakfast at the hotel. There was a good enough spread of local and western fare to choose from and rotate over the days, including the omelettes that are made to order and brought to the table by attentive staff with whom we practically became friends by the time we had our sixth and last breakfast at the hotel. And we would return to stay there if we should visit Kathmandu again.

Room Tip: Rooms facing away from the main Lazimpat road are quieter, although sound proofing is already good.

Stayed at the Hotel Ambassador recently during a week long stay in Kathmandu....the hotel was definitely one of the highlights of an incredible trip. The hotel itself is centrally located; walking distance from the very happening Thamel area and close to other interesting sights in the city. The rooms are spacious, modern and clean. The bed was DIVINE. The service was impeccable; the staff friendly and always helpful. I had breakfast at the hotel every morning during my stay, and dared not to miss it. The spread was incredible; everything was so fresh and absolutely scrumptious! I highly recommend this hotel and look forward to staying here during my next visit to Kathmandu!

Dear guest, thank you for the perfect feedback. Happy to know you found the bed DIVINE & your week long stay was the highlight of your trip to Nepal. Apart from the excellent service and five star amenities, we are located in one of the most vibrant areas of Kathmandu- Lazimpat, the diplomatic enclave. We are conveniently located within walking distance to the touristy Thamel and upscale shopping boulevard Durbar Marg.
Our sumptuous East & West breakfast buffet spread definitely helps you start the day right.
We hope to welcome you back soon.

Located on a main arterial road in Kathmandu, this is a nice business hotel with a professional service and good, clean rooms with brand new furniture and appliances. The road tends to get jammed during peak hours - which is the only drawback I can see of this hotel. Good for business travel.

Room Tip: All rooms are equally good as it is located with 3 sides open.
