Don't expect too much if you're only paying 8 Dollars per night.
But honestly, in comparison to many other budget places in Thamel Holyland Guest House performs pretty well. My room was clean, staff was friendly and if you have a room which faces backwards (which I did) you actually get a pretty decent sleep at night.
I had hot water every time I needed it. The hotel only has an inverter for the lights, which means that you won't be able to charge whenever there's a power cut (which happens rather regularly in Kathmandu).
What else? I never made it up to the rooftop and didn't eat anything here. The location is superb: Momo Star, one of my favourite cheap food joints, is just across the street and Thamel Chowk is only a three minutes walk away.More
