Paradise

If you want to feel at home, have beautiful views, relax in colonial surroundings and be spoilt then this is the place for you. From the moment we arrived we were treated extremely well. Staff so pleasant and eager to please. Meals were outstanding around a campfire. Some beautiful walks around the lodge. Hired mountain bikes around the safari park which was a lovely experience (even in the rain!)

Be advised if you are after an action packed adventure this is not for you. But for us it was perfect.

The lodge is a bit hard to find in the Nat. Park but it is worth the effort. It is an old fashioned place but very charming. We stayed in the largest room with nice furniture but the bathroom is not up to date at all. The diner in boma-style was very nice. You can easily hike for days and nature is beautiful!

Thank you for a lovely review! We attempt to keep signage small so as not to impact not he game viewing too much, and many roads lead to Reilly's Rock. Great to hear you got out on trail - it really brings the area alive!

My girlfriend and I stayed here for 2 nights in August. This was long enough considering the immediate surroundings, but the accommodation alone made us wish we could have stayed longer. Idyllic and utterly charming, this colonial mansion (or two of them actually) with magnificent views, resident small deer and birds and cozy rooms. The boma-style dinner around the campfire was amazing.

Room tip: The Wallis room provides great views and the best outdoor seating opportunities.

On top of a hill this is a perfect quiet and restful place to pass through Swaziland or to stay a few days. The guesthouse is located in a natural park with antelopes. Watch out with the GPS as this will guide you through all possible dirt roads in the surroundings. Definitely not suitable for regular cars. Follow rather the instructions of the guesthouse. The house itself is a bit dated whereas the service is friendly but at their pace.

Thank you for your review, and yes, GPS takes people onto very odd roads. We are happy our directions helped get you here safely!
Our lodge had a total soft refurbishment in July 2014, making your 'dated' comment somewhat surprising. It is perhaps that Reilly's Rock is decorated in a colonial style - it is after all 'Quaintly Colonial".
Our Operations Manager will discuss the comment about pace with our staff, and do a site inspection of the lodge with regards your comments - thank you for bringing these to our attention.

Reilly's Rock Hilltop Lodge is situated in the Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary. There are plenty of smaller antelope here who come close and are not frightened as well as some good birding so the place is excellent for photography.

The Lodge is slightly remote with very pleasant but old fashioned rooms (which add to the charm). Our room (Reilly's Room) was probably the largest and best with a comfortable bed, wooden flooring and nice wooden furniture. The bathroom is very old school but functional and there are nice patios all round to sit and relax.

There are ceiling fans but no air conditioning so it did get very warm and no safety box in the rooms but not really a problem here).

The stay is dinner bed and breakfast, lunch is not provided and if you need lunchtime sustinance you need to go to the main camp which gets very busy. The food is not fancy but adequate.

Service (from Ruth and Lizzie) was extremely friendly and we were made to feel very welcome.

It is not a "big game" safari lodge but a nice place to spend a couple of days relaxing.

A very, very nice lodge in a beautiful naturepark. The people were very kind en the service was excellent. Not cheap but worth it to be there. It was the lodge were Prins Bernhard (Prince of Holland) stayed very often.

Room tip: Excellent rooms! One room is not recommended because it is locked up between other rooms and is very stuffy.

Thank you for your lovely comments on Reilly's Rock. The staff will be told of your kind words, which they love to hear.
The rooms are all the original rooms (1928!) and to make them more private and spacious, we enclosed the veranda around the two standard rooms bringing their bathrooms into their area. It was a challenge, but the big bathroom windows allow good light and air through. But yes, Fern Room is slightly cut off.
    Thanks again!
