Because of a bus breakdown I arrived at midnight in Maputo and took a taxi to the area with highest density of hotels. But since Escola Andalucia was closed due to reconstruction and Monte Carlo was fully booked the only available room nearby was in Pesoa Martins. They charged 130 $ for a room they called a suite. In reality it was a big room with a couch, 2 twinbeds, AC and TV, an entrance hall with a table and chairs, a bathroom and a balcony. The bedside lamps didn’t work, nor did the TV remote, the bathroom looked like lately looted – the shelves laying at the floor, the shower without showerhead (just a pipe ending at the wall – you had to stand close to the wall to get some water on your body) and on the other side of the street a big and noisy construction side starting at 6 am. On the balcony was also the water heater with adventurous wires – I switched it off before showering.
Breakfast was okay but absolutely not overwhelming, there is a small pool in the courtyard, and the room was clean. Next morning I asked the Indian (or Pakistani) hotel manager about the terrible condition of the room but didn’t get any meaningful answer – I think it’s just mismanagement.
Summary: not worth the money
