We spent three nights here at the end of our trip to Africa, and were thrilled with the service we received from the moment we arrived. Our itinerary had been printed & planned according to our requests, and they went above and beyond to accomodate additional requests.
Something I did not see other reviewers post was the fact that no matter what your excursion, you are not simply dropped off. Your driver will stay and wait for you until your excursion is complete. We very much appreciated that. It definitely gave us peace of mind!
The accommodations were great, we wanted for nothing in our tent. There was always plenty of bottled water, and the air conditioning was very welcome at the end of our daily activities. The meals were ample and delicious, and dinner had more than one choice, often including something with local flair. The houskeeping & laundry services did a great job, too.
We did the Zambezi sunset cruise, Vic Falls tour (with our great driver giving the personal tour for us), a helpcopter tour of the falls, Devils Pool, and the Lookout Cafe lunch. All were booked by the camp, and aside from a park fee at the heli ride & transfer fee for Devils Pool that we needed cash for, we paid all the tour costs to the camp at the end of our stay.
Be sure to bring smaller bills in USD for tips, park fees, etc. Also, bring a small headlamp or your tent's flashlight for your walks to and from dinner. We had some of our best insect sighting/pictures on our walks to and from dinner!
Most importantly, we did the Sylvester Cheetah walk and the elephant back safari. Those two were the most amazing parts of our 15 day trip, and should not be missed! Hearing Sylvester purr with contentment during & after the walk and getting to be with such a magnificent animal was a total dream come true! What a neat cat he is, and his caretakers know him so well! Feeding the elephants after the ele back safari made us feel like we were 5 years old again - what a great time. We also bought the souvenir footprint of the elephant we rode, Janet.
We will definitely return to The Elephant Camp ehen we go back to Africa!
