We stayed at A'Zambezi River Lodge for a second time and enjoyed a buffet dinner, a buffet breakfast and an a la carte dinner from Amulonga Restaurant.

As always, the atmosphere was really calm and relaxed, which we love.

The buffet dinner is good value for money, considering the vast variety of dishes. I highly recommend the warthog and crocodile from the grill section. We missed the Almond Terrine which we had during our first visit in March, but the other desserts were equally delicious. Some locals perform a singing/dancing show and if it's your birthday, they'll come sing to you at your table. Great fun! The buffet dinner is definitely the highlight of the restaurant.

Buffet breakfast is always a good option, especially if you're heading out for some adventure (like we did) and you need a meal with substance to kick-start your day. Paired with local Tanganda tea, this is my second-favourite restaurant breakfast on the planet.

We were disappointed with the a la carte dinner service, though. A few things on the menu were out of stock, so we opted for other dishes. We weren't very impressed when the food arrived: the onion rings were measly and not at all the crispy, round rings one would expect, and my warthog medallions were served with mixed roasted veggies and potato wedges instead of the mashed potatoes and butternut as stated on the menu. I had to explicitly ask for it, and was then informed that the kitchen ran out of phyllo/filo pastry so they're serving the potatoes and butternut in a pancake (crepe) - which confused me because a pastry or crepe isn't supposed to be part of the dish.

If you'd like wine with your meal, I'd suggest you buy it in town and take it with to the restaurant, rather than buying a bottle there.

The service was good, though. We knew a few of the staff from our previous visit and it was really great to see them again, especially the always-smiling Charles Sibanda and Knowledge behind the grill.

We stayed at A'Zambezi River Lodge and ate dinner at the Amulonga several nights. Rather than try food we could be more familiar with we decided to go with "different" and it was amazing! Warthog medallions, bream, crocodile steaks... YUM!!! The chef is creating delicious meals and even making the sides very tasty. The potatoes and mixed vegetables are super good, not overcooked, and seasoned with that little extra that is out of the ordinary. Even if you aren't a guest, I recommend you try them out. They have live music and a very relaxed outdoor setting. We even had an elephant stop by our first night during dinner. When was the last time you had that happen???

We enjoyed the excellent variety and quality of the foods in the breakfast buffet. Plus the setting was beautiful and peaceful, right along the Zambezi River. One morning the restaurant packed us a surprisingly delicious breakfast in a box, when our excursion started before the restaurant opened. The staff at Amulonga Restaurant and A'Zambezi River Lodge treated us like family. We are glad we stayed there.

I think it's one of the best places to be in terms of scenic views, quality and quantity of food. The bedding facilities were just magnificent. The staff was just too accommodating. Every time i think of Vic Falls, that's the place that comes into my mind.

Overall it was average. Room service was great and reception staff. The waiter service was very poor at resturant and bar and the resturant not very well presented.
