The Atriums
Ranked #71 of 96 Hotels in Dar es Salaam
Reviewed 14 August 2009

I suppose I should have been tipped off when the hotel took 4 weeks to reply to email, but decided to give it a go anyways, as the website promised wireless internet access and payment by credit card. In fact, the hotel had neither. The wireless was supposedly broken the duration of my stay but I'm not sure it existed at all. When it came time to pay, the visa machine was similarly broken and I was told I would need to go with the hotel accountant to the bank to pay by credit card. Perhaps the most bizarre part was that my clothes kept disappearing. Before they were returned, I was presented with a bill for drycleaning! I explained that normally people ask for this service, and was subsequently exempt from paying and by the last day of my stay, got my last pair of socks back. The exterior of the buildings are nice, though the rooms' neon lighting is not great for atmosphere. So most time was spent on the cute little patio that each room has. Pool was kept clean but is very small. The restaurant is really giving it a go and takes requests- which you would want to exercise as the menu is a little dry and watch out for very old bread and pastries at breakfast time. The management seems to be genuinely trying but they need to get some more committed, quick staff first and not false advertise perks like an internet connection.
