We stumbled across this little local cafe shortly after arriving in Rabat. I had been unable to find a reasonably priced restaurant or cafe on trip advisor that didn't sound like a tourist bus stopover and so decided to just walk down the main road of the Medina, Avenue Mohammed V, and see what took our fancy. The sign for Cafe Taghazout pointed down a laneway and we decided to follow it. So glad we did! This is not a pretty cafe but a clean, bright local cafe, full of locals and run by a very kind man eager to be of assistance. Nothing is in English but minimal French will get you by. The food is great and super cheap. The beef was recommended and came with a plate of slow cooked vegetables, all simple but very tasty. It came with nice soft bread and a sweet homemade yoghurt and a banana to finish. All this and a coke and mint tea for two came to under 75 Dirham/$10. If we were here longer I'd definitely return. Highly recommended if you're after good local food without the tourist trappings.
Most of the photos on trip advisor are not of this cafe but the town on the coast by the same name. All the beach photos should be disregarded.
