Very clean and well maintained property in the middle of Marrakech. The Riad was perfect for our family of Mum and Dad and 3 x 20 something year olds and their partners. We loved coming home in the afternoons and sitting around the pool to cool off. Another highlight was having organised with Cristina to have dinner in the Riad. For a reasonable fee dinner was organised and set up on the rooftop. They cooked, served and cleaned up.
Cristina was very good to deal with and communication was excellent. I would highly recommend this beautiful Riad.
Arriving in Marrakech after a hair raising taxi journey one always feels some trepidation as to where you might end up !
We were met by a very friendly driver ( definitely make use of the pick up service by the Riad) who in turn passed us to Omar who led us down the passages to the Riad, what a charming little place it is, yes it is small but for myself and my teenage daughter it was ample - I would recommend for 2 couples or perhaps a family with 2 children - the authentic artefacts on the walls, the original woodwork on doors and windows really made you feel like you were somewhere special.
We sipped our drinks on the first evening on the comfy sofas on the roof with candles provided feeling very happy with our choice. The beds are very comfortable and the ensuite bathrooms charming and clean. Meriem arrived early the next morning although I didn't hear her come in or prepare the table for breakfast. She was very friendly and helpful leaving us her phone number and advising us of the nearest supermarket and indicating on a map where we were in relation to the souks etc.
We happily walked everywhere and didn't feel anything other than at ease.
The Riad was cleaned every day, beds made and bathrooms left spotless.
We made our on food a couple of nights and walked to some good restaturants, Les terrasses des épices, le Jardin, Latitude 31,all of which I recommend highly.
We would definitely return and I encourage anyone looking for an authentic experience to stay here.
I my wife with a couple of friends and two children stayed in Riad Ethnique in January 2017.
The riad is exactly as it appears in the photos, bright, clean, and very well decorated in perfect Moroccan style with a very particular taste.
Meriem greeted us upon our arrival with the typical pastry and the delicious mint tea.
She gave no timetable various information about the neighborhood and she was always available, kind and leaving us our privacy.
The dinner prepared by the staff was delicious, enjoyed near the fireplace.
The riad is located in nice neighborhood close to several restaurants and the Spa, guests will arrive at the main square in 20 minutes. Appreciated transfers from airport arranged by the property.
We will definitely stay here, an oasis of peace in the beautiful Medina of Marrakech.
The pictures look nice, but the riad is actually very tiny and two of the rooms are on the roof. You barely have the place to walk between the bed and the wall.
Besides, the breakfast is industrial: do not expect msammen and beghir (traditional food you have everywhere else in Morocco). Breakfast starts when the manager arrives (do not dare have a strawberry before she arrives, she will ask you to replace it, even if it is for a kid).
The riad is half an hour away from square Jamaa el fna - not easy to go too. And it is hard to find. A person is supposed to come and pick you up to the "parking" next to the place but we waited 40 minutes in the sun before they came.
Lastly, we paid extra even if you have to rent the whole riad that is supposed to include beds for 8 people (the host counted 3 extras for only 5 adults, included my three year old kid...)
Worst experience ever in Morocco.
I rented this road for our family of four's trip to Marrakesh. We really wanted a riad that we would have entirely to ourselves since we would be traveling with our middle schoolers. The plunge pool was, unsurprisingly, a hit. Mariam greeted us with some nibbles and the traditional Berber Whiskey (mint tea). She showed us around the riad and answered any questions that we had before leaving for the evening. She returned each morning to prepare breakfast and clean the riad. On our first night there, we requested a traditional Moroccan dinner, as we were there to celebrate my husband's birthday. Mariam prepared the meal and Omar served us and cleaned up afterwards. I'm not accustomed to be pampered and cared for like that, and it was such a nice treat. I would recommend staying in one evening to have the experience. The riad also has some other additional tours and things that you can sign up for while in Marrakesh. We had already prebooked a tour through 4X4 Camel (which I cannot recommend highly enough- favourite part of our trip), so we did not take advantage of those extras. However, I will say that the standard of care at the riad would lead me to think that anything that they offered would be exceptional. One other thing I would recommend, pre arrange a taxi to take you to and from the riad, as it is a little hard to find the first time. The riad owner handled this for us, and our driver was great. All in all, this was a well located, clean, and customer service minded riad. I would stay here again and highly recommend that you give it a go.
