Perfect location, rooms are incredible, as are the views from the rooftop breakfast. Lovely rooftop pool with just the right amount of shade and sun. Food in the hotel is excellent. Ali and Mustafi absolutely made our stay and we'll definitely be back!

There are so many wonderful riads to choose from and it's very hard to pick but I was very happy that we booked with Dar Housnia. The roof terrace is spacious and lovely to relax in away after a busy time in the souk. The pool and roof terrace are not together and the pool space is smaller (just FYI). The rooms are cool and well decorated. The dinner was delicious! Breakfast was a bit more limited than I expected but that said, there is yoghurt, juice, coffee and tea, Moroccan pasty/pancakes and the most glorious little cake. I am clearly just being greedy.

The staff are lovely, Ali (I think-sorry if that's not correct, I forgot to write the review straight away) was very charming serving us dinner and looking after us in the evening.

It's a great location so you areequidistant to the north of the Medina (we even walked to the Yves Saint Laurent Museum although that was a bit further) and then same down to the Jama El F'na.

It is a bit noisy in the mornings but that's no faulty of the hotel, I wouldn't stay in the middle of Marrakech if you want silence and regarding the transfers, they hire a taxi company to collect I believe, they are not the hotel drivers but there are people to take you from the taxi to the hotel but you will need to tip them (have cash).

Highly recommend this little haven.

Room tip: The suite with the balcony gives you a bit more space

Dar Housnia is such a beautiful place. We stayed there (with my family) for a week and as I loved it so much, I even decided to stay one week longer. Every detail in the rooms and the whole building is chosen with taste and love. And the stuff is so friendly and lovely and professional. Rachida, the cook makes absolutely amazing food you can eat on the rooftop terrace where you hear gently the magic sounds of Marrakech. Everything she cooks is made with so much love. I can absolutley recommend this hotel allthough I would love to keep it as my secret.

We arrived in Marrakesh from the UK in the evening so after a short walk from our taxi through the hectic, hot and bustling medina it was bliss to relax in this beautiful, calm and peaceful riad. We pre-ordered our supper which was freshly cooked for us and we ate in the small but delightful dining room. We enjoyed the meal so much that we dined there every evening and were served a selection of delicious Moroccan meals by our talented chef.
Our bedroom was very comfortable and quiet except for the chattering birds in the early morning which perched in the huge palm tree in the adjacent courtyard.
We enjoyed breakfast on one of the rooftop terraces where there were views across to the snow capped Atlas Mountains. On another terrace we relaxed in the afternoon by the small swimming pool.
The staff were really helpful, friendly and attentive and ensured that we had everything we needed and organised a trip to the Atlas Mountains which was fascinating.
We had a really wonderful holiday and would highly recommend this riad.

Not a 5 star hotel. Very rustic no good amenities and overpriced. Ali wanted to charge again for something we already paid. Charged us tax per day per person. Taxi to train station was a fiasco. He never indicated it was a share taxi and we did not like it. We asked why he did not tell us And things got heated. We end up walking at 430 am to the main plaza. Of course , I asked for the payment back. Sad but will not recommend this riat. Location is complicated to get to and at night is harder . Breakfast very plain and rudimentary. Rooms have no key to lock upon going out. . The only positive was Mustapha, the cook lady and the 2 other ladies serving breakfast. They are all nice but Ali. Seems he is always upset ... and very radical . Be aware and do not live a copy of your ccard specially if you have paid already. Shower is also a handmade tub complex to shower on it. Not a good experience. Recommend four seasons without hesitation.

Dear José,

Rapidly alerted by our team, we were expecting this negative advise after your 3 nights stay at Dar Housnia. We want to clarify some points.

First, you came through a travel agency who never confirmed whether your stay was paid or not. Therefore we told our butler Ali to ask for taking a print of your credit card while we would, in the meantime, contact the travel agency. You then showed a proof of your payment and this was OK. Something wrong with that ?

A second clash raised when you left the riad at 4:30 in the morning and had to share a taxi with two other clients staying in the neighboring guesthouse. This was an arrangement made by the taxi agency we are working with, that Ali did not know about. The large van would have stopped first at the train station and then at the airport. You may understand that it is not easy to find drivers at that time of the day. We take note that you refused this pertinent arrangement.

These two incidents were much exacerbated by you. If we do apologize for these incidents, we do not accept the insulting and odious behavior you had towards our butler.

Concerning the criticisms against our guesthouse, they are in complete contradiction with comments we receive regularly. We feel that we actually offer something else that you cannot find in 4 and even 5 stars hotels offering an impersonal services. This makes the big difference with guesthouses, which are highly searched and appreciated by a certain category of customers, who look for a genuine and surprising experience of living in an authentic house in the heart of the medina of Marrakesh. Obviously you are not in this category. Very sad.

Eveline
