We stayed in several riads throughout our trip in Morocco recently, but Ryad Mabrouka was memorable for a couple of reasons.

First, we pride ourselves on being low-maintenance guests, but when we arrived we were anything but. We arrived at night with a sick child who had just thrown up in the car all over himself, and me. The staff was understanding when we passed on the tea that is typically offered upon arrival, and quickly showed us to our room.

We had not made reservations for dinner, thinking we would dine out, but they accommodated me and my husband at the last minute, and graciously ordered out a simpler dinner for our kids and had it delivered.

Dinner was wonderful, and with the owners' French heritage present in the excellent vegetable soup with creme fraiche, while also serving a very traditional lamb tagine.

The staff continued to go above and beyond as dinner was rather chaotic as I dined alone, while hubby made a work call. I could not wait for dessert as I needed to check in on my sick child, and left without being able to notify the staff. The staff, however, took it upon themselves to deliver the dessert to my room. So nice! They also extended their dinner hour to accommodate my husband. Needless to say, we were incredibly grateful, and ashamed for the trouble we were causing.

Breakfast was also a treat as they served french baguette! After many days of being served the same type of bread throughout our travels, it was a welcome surprise. The woman that ran the meals also deserves a special mention for her wonderful attention, and sweet demeanor.

I would also like to highly compliment the owners who would come around during breakfast greeting everyone. They are lovely people who also went above and beyond. At one point they ordered a cab for us that was very late, yet they waited with us until it arrived, even though it was the end of the day for them and they were clearly on their way home.

On a separate occasion when my husband needed to make another work call and thought he was having difficulties due to internet connections, the owner offered up his office, as that would put my husband closer to the router. (It turns out there was no internet issues, so fear not!)

Finally, the riad itself needs to be mentioned. It is gorgeous, and larger than the ones we had been staying at. Our room was large and comfortable for my family of 4. The riad also has a beautiful garden, that sadly we didn't get to enjoy as we were in Fes for so little time. We never saw the terrace as it was a little chilly during our stay.

All in all, our stay at Ryad Mabrouka was truly memorable due to its beauty and its excellent staff.

Look no further when choosing where to stay in Fes. You won't regret it!

The Inn is very close to the old city of Fez and very well kept. The rooms are neat and clean and the people are very friendly. It is not easy to get to, it is about a 300 meter slight uphill walk from the road. There are people who come to take your suitcases and bring them up to your room but I don’t know yet if the same people come to take the suitcases down and out to the road The inn is a three story building, with steep stairs and no elevator so handicapped people should keep this in mind. The food is ok.

We were pleased to receive you and thank you for your kind review. I confirm that we take the suitcases up and also down for all clients staying on the first floor (3 rooms are on the ground floor and 5 rooms on the first floor). Porters are available at 20 dhs/cart from the car park to the riad.

Pierre and Caroline have made their riad something special. It is beautifully restored and impeccably managed. Our room opened on the central courtyard and was well appointed, spacious and everything worked. Breakfast is served upstairs where it is possible to enjoy a great view of the Medina. Pierre told me that he is also involved, together with other ryads in the promotion of authentic Moroccan cuisine.
I recommend Ryad Mabrouka if you plan a visit to Fez.

Thank you Roberto for your very kind review and for pointing out the promotion of authentic Moroccan cuisine. This is done through "Fès Gourmet", an event for food lovers which takes place twice a year the first two weeks of March and November. A great opportunity to discover some of the best Moroccan dishes!

This riad is a lovely place to relax - with stunning gardens and decor that is lovely. The owners are wonderfully friendly and helpful while the lady who served us breakfast and dinner was super-friendly. Meanwhile, the food was lovely!

The room had a lovely bath and the highest ceiling we have ever slept under, while the inner courtyard with its fountain was beautiful. The rooftop view of the city is awesome and you can eat up there too.

It is a shame we only had one night here!

When we came in after our drive it was like entering a sanctuary! The inner courtyard and garden (with pool) area were lovingly decorated and made us feel instantly at home. Caroline brought us tea and cookies whilst giving us an overview of what to do in Fes. Both she and her husband Pierre-Marie were very kind and helpful during our 3 night stay.

Breakfast and dinner (which you can request in the morning) were served by the very sweet Fatima and were absolutely delicious! Our room was also beautifully decorated with gorgeous antiques and lovely stained glass windows.

After a day spent in the bustling medina, the rooftop terrace was a treat to unwind in the late afternoon sun overlooking the entire medina and the surroundings.

We would most definitely love to come back!
