One can't complain about the view and the wonderful garden, birds and places to seat and take in the sights. Rooms need updating, very noisy, wifi real spotty. Super friendly and helpful staff. Rooms were clean.

We booked to stay here for 3 nights but in the event only stayed one.
Plus points:
The location is the main plus, nice gardens and view of the lake albeit that there are no sun shades so it is not possible to sit out when the sun is full.
The staff were friendly and helpful albeit that when we had a problem they smiled a lot but did nothing.
Breakfast by Guatemalan standards was reasonable.
Good laundry service.
Negative points:
The rooms are tired and clearly have had no investment for many years. The sound insulation is poor.
On our second night there was a wedding with a sound system normally only seen at rock concerts. The noise was such that the whole room vibrated and there was nowhere in the hotel to sit it out. It was so noisy that we could not even think. We had been out to dinner and walked the town in order to delay our return but finally everywhere in town was closed and we had to return. Whilst the hotel said it would be finished by midnight, we had nowhere to spen 11/2 hours. They lied to us that they had told our agency that the wedding was on. Our agency as soon as we told them of the problem moved us to a hotel half a mile away where we could still here the noise although it was now possible to sleep. The hotel is entirely negligent in taking any non-wedding bookings at all when they have weddings (which I understand is regularly). They need to choose as to what type of hotel they want to be, if they are catering for local very noisy weddings they cannot cater for tourists. If they want to cater for tourists they need to improve standards and understand basic tourist needs for some rest after busy days.
I would not recommend this hotel.

Both the hotel and Panajachel town are impeccable, there is no place you cant consider clean.
PROS: The hotel has a very good location, right in front of the lake so you can see the lake and volcanoes from your room or from the restaurant. Food is very good, once you arrive they will offer coffee and "corn pastries" called "rosquillas". Hotel staff is absolutely lovely, always willing to help and to make your stay the best possible. The gardens are very nice for an afternoon walk and you can get around town easily.

CONS: the building is old and might need more maintenance, in our room there were some things a bit weird: one power cable rusted and hanging from the ceiling, hand basin in the middle of the room and instead of a trash can you will see an old wooden box. Besides that everything was OK, but do not expect luxury here, rather a more old fashioned/ aged mood. Also, keep in mind there is no elevator, so you need to go thru the stairs to your floor.

TIP: talk to the hotel to arrange your transportation from airport to panajachel. and if you need transportation from / to Antigua or other towns, do contact the hotel.
the service is not expensive at all (even the private one is cheaper ) and the shuttle is comfortable (A/C mini van).
Thanks to Jorge Cortez for arranging all our transportations... Jorge you rock ! :)

Room Tip: TIP: talk to the hotel to arrange your transportation, it is cheaper than with other local companies , safer and absolutely comfortable.

This two storey hotel occupies the best spot in Panajachel. Lake frontage with the hubbub of the town behind it. Gardens and recreational areas are right at the waters edge and there is even tables and cbairs right over the water to chill out on. The gardens are pretty but a temporary marquee structure blights the view from virtually everywhere.

There is a small gift shop adjacent reception; water, coffee and biscuits also. All rooms on each level have lake views. We were on the first floor in 206. There is an open walkway running in front of the rooms which the staff have made alot of effort to decorate for Xmas. But alas it was a noisy throughfare for guests and there is no sound proofing between the rooms. Combined with all of the hard surfaces it wasnt very relaxing and sleep came late and finished early.

The room was quite small and spartan, our double bed was stuck in one corner. The Mayan cushions and curtain pelmet were a nice touch but the overall decor was dated. The bathroom was functional but had the best water pressure and plenty of hot water. If you have long thick hair this is the place to wash it.

Breakfast was an ordinary affair. Big vats of beans, fried plantains and eggs all going cold and the runniest oatmeal I have seen, you could drink this. No amount of stirring made it thicker. There was an omelette bar but expect your egg to be cooked first and the the fillings added. Orange juice the breakfast staple was absent here with melon or papaya on offer. Coffee was weak, looked like dishwater. The one beacon on this breakfast was the yoghurt, thick and unsweetened, perfect on fruit.

Staff were friendly and helpful with maps and directions.

This was fine for one night in transit but too noisy for us for any longer.

Room Tip: All rooms appear to have lake views. Maybe try for rooms at ends of the walkway to minimise passing foot traffic

The Convention Centre known as Jardines del Lago is located right on the edge of the dazzling Lake Atitlan with total view of the volcanoes to the south. The grounds are very well maintained with a multitude of tropical flora. Service was excellent, food was quite good but not impressive. Staff were courteous and efficient at all times.
A lovely place in which to stay if you are visiting Pana.

Room Tip: Garden view rooms are good here.
