This was my first time snorkeling. I booked at Ragamuffin Tours. The guides were terrific, pointing out and naming the wide variety of colourful fish that crossed our path, including ballyhoo, the "Dory" fish from Finding Nemo, a moray eel, the yellowtail snapper...brought us to schools of fish moving around the coral. We also went to Shark Ray Village, where we saw sting rays and nurse sharks by the dozens. The Coral Gardens were terrific for the self-exploration...I wanted to reassure the fish, who looked kind of scared as I came in close proximity. An incredible day in my life which I will keep with me always!

We originally tried to book with Caveman tours for our last day in Caulker, but he was full. Caveman said "wait here, I have a friend who may still have availability." Anwar sent over Rico in a golf cart to pick us up, took us to Anwar's office (and then even drove us back to our house!). Signed up for a full day snorkel tour for 4 of us. They had full day and a half day boats going out at the same time. Got us all set up with lunches (stored in a cooler - saw an earlier review that had some lunch concerns) and along with another snorkeler, headed out for the day. The boat was fine, small canopy, bench seating on the side. We went to 5 different locations. Initially it sounded like too many, but it was great. We went to Hol Chan reserve, Shark/Ray Alley, a ship wreck, coral gardens and one last spot (don't remember the name). Hol Chan was lovely, lots of fish, eels, a ray. Shark/Ray alley was a trip! So many sharks!. The ship wreck had a couple of sharks sleeping down below. The best, though, was our last stop. Our captain spotted two manatees coming up for air. We spent quite a while snorkeling around watching them.
We wrapped up the day on the opposite side of the island where a school of tarpin hang out and then docked by the Iguana Resort where they have a small sea horse "ranch" next to their dock (actually a few square yards of submerged netting where sea horses hang on and hang out). Very cool!
All in all a really nice day out on the water.

First time snorkelling, beautiful immersion into the life of our oceans! The two brothers are extremely knowledgable and will make you learn many things about the second largest coral reef and its inhabitants!

For me average half day tour (less then 3 hours) to see and snorkel at Shark – ray alley, coral gardens and south channel plus stop to see the sea horses mini marine reserve and big fishes. It took ages to get a snorkeling gear sorted out. Then we headed off to board a small boat a go to coral garden with guided tour, which was fine. The guide was good with a good command of English. It was just 5 minutes to go there from CC. We had about 30 minutes there. The second stop was Shark-ray alley which was awesome. Again about 30 minutes to enjoy swimming with nurse sharks and too many rays. The last snorkeling stop was south channel for another 30 minutes on our own. Than the guide took as too see seahorses and some big fishes. During the tour we got a few pieces of pineapple and water from a small plastic bag. For 35 USD not cheap. At least our guide was friendly.

This is pretty much a low end snorkeling experience, only $35. That is the good news. The bad news is that the boat you go out in is old and beat up and the equipment is faulty. My face mask leaked badly and I had to snorkel with one hand holding it tight against my nose and the other arm trying to swim. After a while, this became pretty tiring. Once we finished that initial segment, I did get a different mask which was much better. The owner of the business, Anwar, was pretty focused and professional, but his assistant was laid back and chatty and not too much into the actual work. We had a snack of some fruit on a paper plate and a little water in a plastic bag. On the plus side, Anwar did greet our boat and direct us to a good place to have breakfast when we arrived.
