Description: Yo-ho Rojo! In our 13th season, Rojo Beach Bar & Lounge is still the casual kind of place a beach bar ought to be. 3 gorgeous acres and hundreds of feet of beachfront with great snorkeling so don't forget your bathing suits and masks! Food is ordered AT THE BEACH BAR or by the runner outside the bar (there are NO waitstaff). Reason being is we are small and we don't get too crowded...a plus for you! So, we prefer to under promise and over deliver! Dishes are served family style, one or two at a time, with the idea that they're going to be shared over frosty drinks and lively conversation. There are no "appetizers" or "mains" per se, just tasty food. Our staff is small and everything is made from scratch. Rarely, this translates into a bit of a wait. If you are waiting for food, we suggest you enjoy a cocktail. If you are waiting for a cocktail, we suggest you relax and enjoy the view! Pet the dogs. Play some games. DO NOT PET THE PARROT. Happy Hour DAILY from 3pm - 5pm!

Walked here twice from Coral Caye Villa for dinner. Can be hot and humid even in the evening. Food was great across the board. We are a family of four (with two boys 19 and 21), so we can put away the food pretty well. It's tapas style, so during our two dinners we pretty much had everything on the menu. Fairly expensive, but every plate was delicious, even the hummus. Beers were ice cold and mixed drinks were potent.

Rojo sits right on the beach. It is a very pretty view which allows for 4 points. The food is decent enough that it is worth a dinner out.

First a shout out to the great staff, especially Ever, Javier, and Israel who took extra special care of our family.

This is our third trip to the island and the first two times we didn’t want to trek this far north. We totally missed out, but very glad we made the trip this time. As I stated in my subject line, skip Secret Beach, go an extra 400 yards to Rojo Beach Bar. Of the 30 bars we have visited on the island, this one has everything. It was so much fun we went back for a second day despite the 40 minute golf cart ride from our resort.

Getting there: About a 25 minute golf cart ride north of downtown San Pedro. At the Secret Beach turnoff, go right instead of left and follow the signs to Rojo Beach Bar. The last few miles to the Secret Beach/Rojo turnoff are not paved, but its worth a few bounces.

Amenities: Name another bar on the island that has its own reef system growing under the dock. Bring your snorkel gear, we saw as many fish here as we did on our snorkel trips. Nurse shark, rays, lion fish, crab, lobster, and numerous species of colorful fish. The dock is huge with a big sun deck at the end. This experience alone made the trip worthwhile. Many games to play if you don’t want to just sit and hang, pool table, oversized jenga, beer pong table, corn-hole/bags, and darts. If you are an animal lover, play with the dogs and macaws. If you want to cool off, there is an infinity “chill pool” kept at 82 degrees, best part, its right on top of the ocean. BTW, the bathrooms are the cleanest bar bathrooms on the island, much appreciated.

Bar: Huge palapa bar that seats 30-40 people and a very large covered dining area, both offer beautiful views of the Caribbean Sea. A great variety of specialty drinks to choose from and we tried them all. My favorites, the lychee martini, ginger mojito, and the Mexican margarita. Ask for the flavored popsicles with champagne, a can’t miss treat. If you are looking for cheap drinks, this is not your place. Rojo is more of a beach club than the typical bars you see on the island and it costs money to provide this level of service, quality, and experience. So splurge, it’s worth it.

Food: All I can say is WOW. People don’t think of pizza on the island, but they have great pizza, try the lobster or the Alaskan. Lobster nachos and lobster jalapeno poppers were to die for as well. We tried eight to ten items and nothing disappointed. As far as price, see the point above regarding drinks.

On our next visit to Ambergris Caye, our resort will be much closer to Rojo Beach Bar, so we can visit daily.

Stumble on this awsome Beach Bar.... Amazing views! It's more of a lounge than just a bar...party games.. couches, loungers, great food, fun bartenders, small infinity dipping pool with water temp of 82. Cool pier, great tunes..did I mention that amazing view! Upscale..wish we would of found The Rojo earlier! Skip Secret Beach..this is the real Secret!

Went there for lunch last week. It was pretty good. My husband ordered fish tacos and they were really good. I tried the seafood wontons and was disappointed. They had chorizo and lobster in them. They just tasted like chorizo. Wish I had ordered something else. There were lots of items on the menu. I would have liked to go back to try something else but we didn't make it back. Also, I will note that if you don't like animals in the vicinity while you eat, you may want to walk on down the beach. There were several dogs running around while we were there and a couple of times we had to run them off while they were sniffing at our food. It was quiet while we were there but I hear that it can be quite lively at night.
