Description: Opened in 1963, Clyde's of Georgetown qualifies as an institution. This animated tavern in the heart of Washington's most famous neighborhood popularized saloon food and practically invented Sunday brunch. More than 50 years later, Clyde's continues the tradition, serving classic American cuisine to Georgetown locals and famous faces while passers-by stop in and mingle at the long oak bar. The re-designed interior is an open invitation to the restaurant's life and times with its many travel posters, paintings, and bronze statues. Clyde's of Georgetown remains a Washington classic.

So good! Chose this restaurant because it was close and had food everyone in our family would eat. Crowded but absolutely the best food we ate our entire vacation. Steak cooked perfectly. Delicious crab cake. Even the fruit was ripe and flavorful. Good service. No reservations but seated immediately. Definitely go to Clyde’s.

Best food we had on our entire vacation. We didn’t have a reservation and we seated at 6:30 with no wait, service was great.

Looking for a late lunch, and being very tired from sightseeing, I found this very friendly restaurant. Got a really great greeting from the hostess. The waitress was helpful with a suggestion. And the meal was really good. I tried the crabcake sandwich. After all, I am in Maryland and crabcakes are a regional dish. The sandwich was really tasty. The green side salad was good as well, with a lot of pistachios, which added a special touch to the salad. The waitress came by to ask if I was pleased with the meal several times. This is a place I would gladly visit on my next trip to Georgetown.

We made an impulse decision to go here because we could book online and it was a perfect choice! Really neat character inside. There’s an older/vintage looking bar area up front and a beautiful airy room out back. The menu suited the 5 of us (3 teenagers too) and the beer menu was solid. The burgers were excellent as was the crab cake! Not the cheapest place but worth every penny. High quality food. Walkable from our hotel (Avenue Suites).
