This is a local French restaurant in the Brookland area of the city near the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception and the Catholic University. Brookland is a trendy and transitional neighborhood away from the city center with lots of new places to eat.
Primrose is a “diamond” in the rough with a very pleasant ambiance, great service and superb food and wonderful ostrich feathers ceiling lamps, clean tables and decor.
Although they bill themselves as a “wine bar” they have a full bar although they only have “off brands” liquor that are very good but not well known to non-connoisseurs.
It’s menu it’s “very French bistro” and everything I have tried there has been superb.
From the tuna rillette to pate de campagne for appetizers to the fabulous poulet roti and the not to be missed steak frites and many other typical French bistro dishes. If you are not into French fare try their hamburger with French fries which is superb.
If you are visiting DC this place is worth the trip away from the city center to have a god meal.
