Washington DC is a walking city and so much better when you are on a walking tour with historical commentary. I stumbled upon Free Tours by Foot and booked the "All-in-One, National Mall & Tidal Basin Tour". The guide, Rebecca F, was amazing. It rained the whole day and she gave us the opportunity to leave halfway through...but most people continued on. I am so glad I chose to see DC this way. I only had one day and I felt it was worthwhile.

We recently did the Arlington tour with Dan. This is a must do tour and Dan was fantastic, very informative and respectful at the grave sites we went to. Arlington Cemetery is a must see site for anyone when visiting DC and using DC Free Tours by Foot is the best way to see this wonderful place. We did 3 tours in DC with Free Tours by foot and found all the guides to be very well informed and the tours great. A guided tour is the best way to see Arlington.

We really enjoyed our two tours with Free Tours by Foot DC... "Arlington National Cemetery" and "White House at Night". The tours are "free" and you pay the leader what you think it was worth. You must reserve in advance.

The Arlington tour was at 10am Sunday morning, led by Cecilia. Unfortunately, it rained hard for the entire 3 hour tour but Cecilia was not deterred so neither were we! There were already a lot of people at the cemetery at that hour. The walk through the cemetery was leisurely, and we stopped several times for discussion about the history of the site, famous and regular people buried there, and how the cemetery will grow as time goes on. I was very, very moved by the Kennedy grave site with its understated dignity and the eternal flame. We witnessed the changing of the guard as well as laying of wreaths - once again, this ceremony underlined the gravity of these hallowed grounds. Highly recommended!

The "White House at Night: Secrets, Scandals & Legends" tour led by Rebecca is billed as "adults only" due to the nature of what we learn about, but in my opinion anyone over 13 would be fine. We spent most of the time very close to the White House and heard many stories about its occupants over time up to about 40 years ago (no discussion of contemporary matters). The tour was interesting and Rebecca was very enthusiastic!

We did the 4 hour National Mall and Tidal Basin All-in-One. Ingeborg was FABULOUS. She made it interesting and a great experience. Loved all the information she shared in an upbeat manner with a sense of humor. Awesome tour that's worth your time.

Ingabrod led us on a 4 hour tour starting at the Washington monument and ending at the Jefferson Memorial. It also included MLK, Vietnam, Ww2, and the Korean memorials. She did a very good job telling us about construction, designers, and reactions to the memorials. She deserved a nice tip for an educational afternoon.
