Great place to go if your just wanting to chill out and have a lazy walk around. If keeping fit is your thing, the basin makes a great running track.

A great place to walk by, take pictures or simply have a calmed walk. Well maintained and lovely views of the monuments and DC National Mall area.

One of the nicest places in Washington, DC. Enjoy the breathtaking cherry blossom (usually around April, check dates); this short lived natural phenomenon is literally awesome (causes awe). The walk is very pleasant, can get a little crowded at times but don’t let that bother you.
Just enjoy the magnificent buildings and their reflection on the water. Breathe the fresh air and escape the busy streets of DC.

If you can navigate the sometimes oppressive crowds, a walk around the tidal basin during peak bloom is one of the best experiences in DC. Added bonuses are stops at the Jefferson, Roosevelt, and MLK monuments along the way -- all superb!
