Owner description: Union Station D.C. Is a superbly restored, historic, mixed-use, intermodal transportation and shopping center located just blocks from the U.S. Capitol Building. This historic hub of culture services more than 90,000 people a day as a major transportation center, retail destination, and tourist resource.

I thought this was a place for travelers. Apparently it’s for locals. It’s more like a local hangout than a transportation hub. There is no AC, and it’s 107 outside. Ok I can handle that. But then we discovered that there is no where to stow luggage so you can go eat, look around, etc. Then while waiting in one of the few benches available for travelers, my husband closed his eyes (sitting up with his luggage) and was scolded by security that he can’t sleep. Ugh! Not a well thought out place for travelers Denver!

Easy, convenient, relaxing for a reasonable fare. 5 stars Megabus.the starting point is at the Union Station in DC, and stops at Richmond, Hampton and Virginia Beach. Kudos to their drivers... They were cordial and safe drivers.

Our tendency is to rush when moving through a transportation facility. Most of them are simply conduits to other places. Washington Union Station is an exception. The beautifully restored original building is worth a visit even if you have no trip to take. Passengers arriving by train move through a modern terminal addition that gives way to the soaring ceilings, arches, and statues of the main hall. Directly across the vast hall another set of arches leads to the street. As you walk out a larger arch frames the U. S. Capital. It makes for an impressive start to a Washington visit.
It’s a busy place serving about 200,000 passengers a day between bus, rail, and Metro connections. A wide range of food and shopping options are available. It’s worth the time to linger here instead of racing for your next mode of transportation.

We visited Union Station in DC while we were waiting for an Amtrak train back home. It is a stunning building and huge! My grandchildren were very impressed.
