Currently here at the resort as I write this. Over all very disappointed with the resort as a whole. We booked last year after research and even followed groups on Facebook for tips and hints so that we fully knew what to expect.

It did not meet any standards expected a 5star hotel I've been to nicer 2stars in Europe.

Here's a list of my pros and cons

Certain staff are lovely. (others are rude and demand tips for ice??)
Mable at guest relations is amazing she sorted our room prior to arrival she also booked our alacart restaurants (more about them later)
The beach is stunning
The pool is stunning and as quickly as it gets green agly (every 3 days) they clean it.
The alcohol is plentyful if you like to hairs on ur chest (they pour it that strong)

Now for the cons

They frequently run out of glasses as well as plastic glasses in the pool bar. (good job we brought our own)
The rooms though functional just! They are dated and lacking in remedial repairs and maintain require for a hotel of this reputation.
The food is in its own stratosphere of gross. Basic food hygiene is lacking using same utensils to handle veg and meat along with cooked and raw foods. Staff understandable get hot at food stations so they wipe their sweat on napkins but don't wash their hands. Twice on separate occasions we were served raw pink chicken even after watching it being cooked.
You never got to eat as a family, each person took ages to get their meals cooked at each station depending on what they chose (if anything there were days we ate pringles afterwards for our meal)
Weekends are the worst the swarm of local Cubans descend they take priority over everyone else. They will also take towels and people's pool toys etc without asking and ruin the nice atmosphere around the pool for the 2days as it descends into chaos.
We complained to guest relations who did not seem to pay any attention to our complaints thus why I'm doing this review.
The alacart restaurants which there are 4 of. Only romanicia was nice from the moment we arrived to the end of our experience. The other 3 well not so good from the 25minute wait for drinks when it wasn't even busy to the food which was cold or over cooked ect.
Highly disappointed will not be returning

Magic place for the family experiencing Cuban culture. We all had an amazing time.

The people are amazing so friendly. I was amazed by the lack of technology and you almost go off grid when you spend time here with 3 computers your few links to outside world.

Be prepared for creatures with crabs and roads, lizards etc wandering around the hotel. Great to feel one with nature but the crabs at first are a little freaky.

Rainy season can be eventful with plenty of storms but they do pass quick.

Facilities are really good and despite most western items unavailable it’s really good food.

Highly recommend getting out and about and seeing the culture it’s very safe and people as stated are fantastic.

Plenty of restaurants and food options with a well stocked bar.

Overall loved this place but I fear it will quickly change with American influence so go soon

My husband and I and 2 friends came here for 2 weeks in May. We got the room we requested and pre booked all our a la carte restaurants includi g a birthday cake for our friend.
The room was spacious and clean. Our mini fridge was always full. We left a tip inside each day for e tea water, rum and tonic waters. You usually get 1 water 4 beers and cokes
The a la cartes were fabulous but the main buffet did have a fly problem. The beach was one of the best and the snorkelling was fabulous. Lots of free water sports pedalos kayaks catamaran surfboards to name a few snorkel and flippers available at the towel hut. Always plenty of clean towels. We didn't go to the pool but it was the largest I have ever seen. The staff were great and couldn't do enough for you. All in all a great holiday and would definitely go back
