I simply loved staying here. We booked well in advance and were given probably one of the best rooms in the hotel, a corner room with windows opening out to the valley and the gorgeous snow covered alps with waterfalls on both sides in full view. Out our side window we could see the train chugging up the mountain to Wengen. Every night we would sit out on the balcony, have a glass of wine and take in the beautiful view. The staff was wonderful, very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was great, just what you needed to start a day of hiking or exploring. And from the breakfast room, gorgeous views of the valley with paragliders floating above. The hotel is old with lots of wood which gives it a rustic charm. I truly enjoyed my stay here as it was peaceful and relaxing. I would go back in a heartbeat.

Room tip: Corner rooms facing the valley have best views.

I've stayed in many hotels but have never experienced the level of customer service that I've seen here at Hotel Staubbach from Angie. She is an absolute gem who will go that extra mile to ensure you enjoy your stay in the Alps. Nothing was too much trouble for Angie and her delightful personality and welcoming attitude put us at rest from the moment my partner and I arrived.

The hotel is very charming in the simple, quaint manner that prevails in the area. But the views - well, they're nothing short of perfect. From our south facing bedroom on the 2nd floor we could see the Staubbach waterfall, snowcapped Alps and even the occasional skydiver, base jumper and paraglider. It's only a stones throw away from the Horner Pub (i.e. the only pub!) and everything else is just a short walk away.

Breakfast was very tasty with a wide range of fresh food and that killer view from their huge windows. The hotel is quiet, clean and smells great too. I can't recommend it highly enough.

Room tip: South facing rooms have the best views of the valley and waterfalls. It's on a hill so even the 2nd floor rooms seem high.

One of the highlights of our 2-week trip thru Switzerland, Austria, Germany, and the Czech Republic was our stay in the Lauterbrunnen Valley. There is nothing like this valley for the views, the people, and hikes. I've stayed in Interlaken, and have visited Luzerne, and there is no comparison, this is the place to be. The cable-cars to the Schilthorn, Gimmelwald, and Murren are right there, along with a small railroad that runs across the cliffs. There is easy bus service that will take you from one end of the valley to the next, or hike one of the many trails, novice to expert, sprinkled throughout the area.

The Hotel Staubbach is situated right in the middle of everything. They are reasonably priced, with a friendly staff that are willing to help with any questions you may have. The rooms are more than adequate, with comfortable beds and surprisingly large bathrooms. Every room has a patio or deck to relax on after a hard day of hiking or morning coffee.

All-in-all a great place to visit, and a great hotel.

Room tip: Ask for a room facing the falls.

This hotel really is a little piece of paradise, from the moment that you walk up to the front doors you know that this is a special place to stay. It may not be a luxury resort with super sized rooms and gourmet restaurant but the service is 5 stars and the hotel is beautiful, full of charm and when you see the views from the south facing rooms you will soon understand why so many people love this hotel.

The hotel is located only a 5-10 minute walk from the station and if your driving it has plenty of free parking right out front. The hotel has a large breakfast room that serves all kinds of delicious treats such as fresh pastries, fruit, bacon, eggs etc, a lounge area that you can enjoy a coffee, tea or water and a kitchen area with guest drudge, microwave etc. if the weather us nice you da. Also enjoy the outdoor lounge area and grassed terrace that overlooks the waterfalls and church.

The room was perfect for us, we booked a south facing waterfall view room which was located on the second floor. There are no fancy electronic locks on the doors but the hotel is over 100 years old and its charm makes up for the lack of a few modern extras, our room had two very comfortable twin beds, a small but exceptionally clean bathroom with plenty of hot water and a small study area.

What really makes the room memorable is the view! From our double doors leading to the balcony we had a clear view of the Staubbach Falls, the local church and of course the beautiful valley. Our room also had another window that faced East that gave us a view up the valley wall towards Wengen. The balcony has a small table with two chairs and is separated from your neighbour by a low partition, it's the perfect spot to sit out on and watch the sunset over the valley.

The staff at the hotel (in particular Adam) are sensational, you are made to feel welcome and treated not just as a guest but like family. Adam had us checked in so quickly and took the time to offer us advice to make the most of our stay in Lauterbrunnen. No question was too difficult, no request too hard, he really went out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed.

This hotel is a must for anyone coming to Lauterbrunnen, you will not be disappointed.
