Stumbled across the church almost by accident and decided to have a look inside. It was lovely and you are welcome to take photographs.

Whilst not as ornate as other Churches in Tallinn the unique charm of St Marys is the multitude of coats of arms from the various nobility buried there.

The lovely facade, predominantly white, with ornate pinnacle atop a clock, was delightful to see as first sight. It was a felicitous introduction for what lay within.

Heraldry comprising multitudes of coats of arms was the overwhelming feature inside. The walls are festooned with emblems from the 17th century onwards. They make a most dramatic sight. Many illustrious people are entombed here.

Bounded by high pews the nave leading to the altar area is wonderful. The pulpit and its canopy on the left side is ornate.

The rear is dominated by a grand organ and we imagined the fine music emanating when in full play in the atmospheric space.

The church itself is very nice, if you manage to see an organ concert is even better. But do climb the tower, it gives you a beautiful view over Tallinn.
