Description: At Leib, we bring the farm to your table. Over the years, we have built a family with dedicated local farmers, fishermen and producers to bring you food with flavour directly from the source. Leib is a labour of love, a three-way partnership between a chef, a sommelier and the farmers. We plan our menus together, with wine playing just as an important role of the dining experience as the food itself. Estonia has many talented brewers and distillers. Together, we bring you local ciders, craft beers, and homemade liqueurs, many of which we brew ourselves. Every dish, every ingredient tells a story. At Leib, we want to invite you to sit down at our table and tell you these stories. The name Leib means black bread in Estonian, something that is essential to any meal. Our menu changes with the seasons, a challenge that we love, but the black bread remains the same. The bread, much like the restaurant, is a reminder of the simple pleasures of honest, local food made with heart!

Enter the gate from old town street and you'll find a perfect garden with tables, great wine list and wonderful food from local ingredients. Must be one of the best terraces in Tallinn - perfect for romantic dinner in a warm, darkening summer night! Also the inside looked comfy and stylish, in case you're travelling during not-so-warm-season. The staff is young but serves you with great taste. The only thing to improve is the somewhat typical baltic style of forgetting the customer once dessert is eaten - we really had to wait and wait and after waiting make effort to get the bill and leave. Fix that final touch and the place is perfect :)

Second time here. Now sitting outside - a bit chilly but ok. Food was just excellent with a wide range of tastes. Young but friendly staff.

First night in Tallinn with a group of 14. Hotel made booking for us si it was only on arrival that we found we were limited to 2 choices of starter, main course, dessert ... although they did offer veg option. However given the large group and relatively small kitchen it was only to be expected.

The entrance to the restaurant set the scene for a thoroughly enjoyable evening. A walk through beautifully old garden (with surprise monument as you enter!).

Our waiter Arthur was very friendly and knowledgeable and obviously very passionate about the food on offer. All from local butchers and fishermen with organic local veg produce. Wines were a bit on the expensive side but opted for a very acceptable local cider.

I had locally produced goat cheese salad, simply succulent beef fillet (medium) and bottle of cider. Came to €40 give or take incl 20% service charge.

The whole experience from greeting at arrival to ambiance to delicious fare was wonderful and would definitely visit again albeit with a smaller group in order to sample other choices.

The restaurant was recommend by an Australian ex-pat who had lived for 9 years in Tallinin as a favorite of the locals. You have to walk a little from the center of Old Town to get to it, and the nondescript gate won't impress you. But the ambience in the Scottish garden and the food is unforgettable. Great local beer and imported wine list. The menu varies based on what's locally available at the time. The place takes seemly dull every day entrees and makes them special. Pork sausage is locally made and paired with amazing sautéed potatoes.

This restaurant was highly recommended by someone that does extensive business travel in Tallinn and her opinion was confirmed by several other local residents we met.
The restaurant is about a 15 minute, leisure walk from the center of old town or a five minute cab ride.
No big signs at the entry; we entered the restaurant via a small garden patch. The menu is rather limited but selectively well chosen and prepared by a well known local chef. The price for a full dinner (aperitif, wine/beer, main course, desert and lattes was very reasonable.
Our waitress (Maarja) was warmly smooth with a great friendly attitude and abundant pride in the Estonian cuisine. Funny, but a good service somehow makes a meal taste much better. She certainly enhanced the ambiance.
Other restaurant members were also attentive and solicitous, offering recommendations to compliment food and drinks. The main dishes (Perfectly cooked steaks and pork) and the desert we ordered were simply the best we had in Tallinn and in other more expensive restaurants in both Riga/Helsinki. You will need reservations during the busy hours, but the effort is well worth it. I was told local patrons are the primary clientele (we were treated as long time customers, not tourists) and the menu is priced accordingly. All the employees we talked to had a strong command of the English language.... All good!
