I highly recommend this tour. I learnt a lot about Vilnius and its history and it was good to do on the first day of my stay. The guide was informative and tried to present information in a balanced way though the stories were not totally unbiased. The tour covers the old town mostly and is taken at a leisurely pace. We were a mixed age party and all enjoyed the tour.

We took this tour and it was nothing short of amazing. Ieva, our tour guide, was knowledgable, friendly, funny and helpful. She introduced us to history of her country and capital city in accessible way. I am certain that without this tour and her guidance we would not enjoy Vilnius the way we were.

I cannot imagine why anyone would visit Vilnius and not take advantage of this excellent FREE tour. While we were waiting outside the tourist information office for our guide we were wondering about tips and whether tips were part of the deal or not. However this was dealt with in a straightforward manner by our lovely guide. The tour is free. However, it is up to the individual if they would like to leave a tip. It would be a very mean spirited person who would not leave a tip after this informative but light hearted tour.
Lithuania has had a difficult past because it is a small country which other countries think is fair game to invade and plunder. The Crusaders, Napoleon, Russians and Germans to name but a few all had a go. However our guide was light hearted about the country's past difficulties which was just as well because our group contained very many different nationalities. Unfortunately the ancestors of many of us in the group may have done Lithuania no favours in the past!
Our guide Martina was skilful in keeping the group together and making friends with each other which meant we had a happy experience.
We had decided before we came on the tour to eat at a restaurant called Forto Davros however, she stopped outside it and said it was a good place to visit. The restaurant was o.k but afterwards when we came out there were other Lithuanian restaurants nearby which might have suited us better. We did eat the famous Lithuanian Zeppelin however perhaps one in a lifetime would suffice.
We were all very happy with the free walking tour which was very much better than the City Bus Tour we had taken the previous day. If you do not mind walking my advice would be to take the free walking tour first. You might not need the bus tour because Vilnius is so small.
